Even though I hadn’t done anything wrong, I still felt a bit guilty for some reason. My body instinctively took a step back.

In the past, Jiang Jiang spoiled me too much. When we were together, he was always the one cooking; I barely had to worry about anything.

It’s fair to say that my body, my heart, and even my stomach were firmly in his grasp.

Only in the past few years have I learned how to cook.

Thinking of this, my eyes grew a little misty again.

Then I heard Gu Zhan starting to send Jiang Jiang off, “Since there’s nothing else, Doctor Jiang, you should go back and rest early.”

He stared straight at Jiang Jiang and said lazily, “It’s not convenient for you to stay any longer.”

Snapping back to my senses, I shot him a warning look, but he ignored me completely.

Just as I was about to speak, Jiang Jiang’s voice, void of emotion, sounded in my ear. “Oh?”

I froze, my heart suddenly beating faster.

Gu Zhan tilted his head and quickly raised his brows at me, then shifted his gaze back to Jiang Jiang. “It’s nothing serious. It’s just…”

He smiled, speaking slowly and with a subtle implication, “I haven’t had a bath in days. Lulu said she was going to help wipe me down.”

At these words, Jiang Jiang visibly paused.

Just when I thought he might say something or even do something, he simply stood up, picked up the medical chart, and left decisively.

I stood there, dazed.

I didn’t want to admit it, but I had to.

It seemed Jiang Jiang really didn’t care about me anymore…

“He Lu?”

“I’m fine.” I stared hard at the floor, my hands trembling slightly.

I don’t know how long had passed before someone handed me a tissue.

It was Gu Zhan. I looked up, meeting his deep, unreadable eyes.

He watched me for a while, then asked nonchalantly, “It’s been almost five years, hasn’t it? And you still can’t let go?”

I sniffled, answering without the slightest hesitation, “I can’t.”

Gu Zhan was silent for a moment before he smiled and said, “Back then, you gave me a love letter too. How come you got over me so quickly?”

Caught off guard by the sudden mention of that embarrassing story, I was momentarily stunned.

When I realized, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

“That was so long ago. Besides, didn’t you reject me at the time? You even said you only saw me as a little sister.”

Gu Zhan looked at me, gave a soft laugh, and said nothing.
