Chapter 8

“You’re right, so be careful from now on. If I get angry, the consequences will be serious.”

He can hear what I’m thinking!

I was the one who saved him, yet he acts so obedient in front of my mom, but secretly bullies me behind her back. My anger flared, so I cursed him in my heart: “Screw you, you repay kindness with ingratitude!”

Qi Mubai sneered, “You Zombie, you sure have guts.”

Well, it’s good that he understands me-it saves trouble. I don’t have to hold back anymore. “Hmph, stop showing off. If you bully me again, I’ll bite you and turn you into a Zombie too!”

The amusement in his eyes grew stronger. Then he rolled up his sleeve, revealing a smooth, well-shaped forearm, and said carelessly, “Go ahead, bite.”

His action completely caught me off guard.

Is this guy crazy or what…

But I’d already said it-if I backed down now, I’d look like a coward…

After a moment’s hesitation, I grabbed his arm and bit down.

I didn’t really bite.

I thought he’d pull away on his own-being bitten by a Zombie is terrifying. But he stood firm, watching me with interest.

Well, I’ve really run into a lunatic.

I admit defeat.

He stared at the ring of saliva I’d left on his arm, frowned, and said, “So dirty.” Then he wiped it off on my clothes.

Me: “…”

From that day on, I classified Qi Mubai as an abnormal person. I avoided him whenever possible and tried not to talk to him.

Our supplies at home ran out again.

Zombies were rampant outside. Qi Mubai volunteered, “Auntie, I’ll go find supplies for us.”

I couldn’t help but curse him as a manipulative guy in my heart, and almost instantly, I received a chilly glance from the person in question.

I shivered and obediently pretended to be dead beside him.

My mom immediately objected, “No way, it’s too dangerous… Look at you, so delicate, how could you possibly stand up to those Zombies…”

Heh, I don’t know if his body is delicate, but his heart sure is dark.

Qi Mubai glanced at me again.

Me: “…”

“It’s fine, Auntie. I’m young, after all. I can’t let you go out and take risks…”

After a round of intense back-and-forth, my mom finally relented, “Alright then, take that girl with you. She can shield you at a critical moment…”

?

I can’t stay in this house for another minute!

For some reason, our neighborhood hardly had any Zombies. The two of us made it safely to the gate.

I saw on TV that this was the most dangerous time. Even though Qi Mubai and I weren’t exactly friends, I couldn’t just watch him get bitten by Zombies. If he died, I wouldn’t be able to explain it to my mom.

I’m not very capable, but at least I’m a Zombie. Like my mom said, I could shield him at a critical moment-after all, I wouldn’t die.

Thinking this, I bravely stood in front of him.

Qi Mubai saw this and chuckled softly, but said nothing.

We didn’t find much on this trip.

The nearby supermarkets had already been cleaned out, and we didn’t dare go too far-I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to protect Qi Mubai.

Thinking about how my mom would soon go hungry, I was worried sick.

I walked with my head down, not knowing where to go, when Qi Mubai suddenly grabbed me by the collar and lifted me up. “This way.”

I was surprised by how strong he was-he could easily pick me up. Looking up, I saw a road I’d never taken before and couldn’t help but wonder in my heart, “Where are we going?”

Qi Mubai didn’t answer, just led me forward.

From the moment we left, we hadn’t encountered a single Zombie along the way.

I found it strange, but Qi Mubai suddenly said, “There must be another survivor nearby who drew all the Zombies away.”

Makes sense.

We walked for about an hour.

Because of my physical limitations, I walked slowly. Qi Mubai seemed to walk fast, but always kept just the right distance from me.

He must have been secretly waiting for me.

He must be scared too.

Tch.

We walked down a small path and through a patch of woods. Just as I was starting to doubt, a building appeared before us.

“There’s something inside.”

He walked up and entered a string of numbers into a small screen at the door.

“You have successfully unlocked.”

With a beep, the locks clicked open one after another.

I pushed the door open, still skeptical.

The first floor was empty. Qi Mubai jerked his chin upward, “Second floor.”

As soon as I got to the second floor, I was stunned.

The shelves were packed with goods, and there was no sign anyone had ever been here.

Overjoyed, I asked him in my heart, “How did you know about this place?”

Qi Mubai lowered his head, his figure outlined in golden sunlight streaming through the window. His beautiful blond hair blended perfectly with the light, making him look serene.

Like a handsome boy from a comic book.

That thought suddenly popped into my head.

Afraid he’d hear it again, I quickly lowered my head and started gathering food.

Everything was here-even purified water filled an entire section.

Only when my bag was packed to the brim did I reluctantly prepare to leave.

I’m not good with directions, so I wandered out aimlessly. Qi Mubai grabbed me again, “This way.”

Being dragged around like this made me feel undignified. I held my frustration and followed him, when suddenly a familiar sharp voice rang out, “That’s the Zombie!”

Kiss the Zombie Girl

I am a Zombie.

Early in the morning, my mom burst into my room, yanked open the curtains, and, wearing an apron and brandishing a spatula, shouted at me: “Still sleeping? Stayed up...
