I turned around and saw a beautiful woman.
She covered her mouth in surprise, her eyes full of terror, and kept repeating, “There’s a Zombie!”
My sensitive hearing was assaulted by her shrill voice, making my ears ache. Instinctively, I wanted to run, but her voice attracted a whole crowd!
“Where is it? Where is it?!”
“It’s fine, looks like there’s only this one. Brothers, grab your weapons!”
“Liang Zai, pass me that stick by your foot! Let me take care of it!”
“Alright!”
I was so frightened that I almost burst into tears.
Why kill me? I just came to the supermarket to pick up some groceries for my mom… Ever since I became a Zombie, I haven’t bitten a single person. Isn’t that enough?
What do I do? I can’t fight, and I can’t run. In my panic, I dropped to my knees with a thud, and even kowtowed to them.
The whole place fell silent.
“What’s this Zombie doing?”
“No idea…”

“Don’t move yet,” said the man in the lead.
He was tall, with a buzz cut, handsome features, dressed in combat gear, and he even had a gun in his hand.
He looked like a special forces soldier.
“Can you understand what I’m saying?” He squatted down, trying to communicate with me. I knew this was my chance to survive, so I quickly nodded.
A flash of shock crossed the man’s face.
Clutching my bag tightly, I hunched my shoulders and started edging toward the door. They didn’t move; on the contrary, they stared at me in astonishment.
Just a few more steps and I’d be out!
Just as I was about to leave, a blunt object struck me from behind, nearly knocking me out.
Blood flowed from my head.
I couldn’t feel any pain, just dizziness. I turned around and saw that it was the woman who had screamed earlier, her face full of malice. “Go to hell!”
The man who had spoken to me before shouted angrily, “Stop!”
The woman looked aggrieved, her tone even a bit whiny, “What’s wrong, Brother Cheng? She’s a Zombie!”
Before the man could reply, several zombies suddenly rushed in behind me.
Everyone panicked, and I took advantage of the chaos to run out.
When I got home, my mom saw the state I was in and instantly flew into a rage. “Who did this? Who did this?!”
The grievance I’d just endured finally had an outlet. I opened my mouth, unable to make a sound, but tears streamed down my face.
“Come on! Take me to him! If I don’t kill him today, I’m not surnamed Qian!”
After quickly bandaging my wound, my mom dragged me out the door.
“It was at the supermarket, right?!”
I nodded. My mom, annoyed by how slowly I was moving, simply picked me up and carried me off.
