Under this apocalypse, morality and legal order no longer exist. In a world where strength is king, the ugly faces of humanity are fully revealed.

Gangs large and small have sprung up everywhere. Those vicious individuals once despised by society have become Leaders thanks to their powerful Superpowers. They commit all manner of evil, constantly recruiting other Superpower Users to strengthen their teams and consolidate their power.

Those without Superpowers, especially the more vulnerable-the elderly, the weak, women, and children-have become burdens to these teams and are ruthlessly abandoned, turning into one sacrifice after another.

Watching a few Superpower Users not far away endlessly tormenting and bullying an old man in his seventies or eighties and a five-year-old girl, I was filled with anger but utterly helpless.

If it were before, I would have called the police without hesitation. But now, there are no police, and I have no ability to save them. Acting rashly would only put my mom and Qi Mubai in danger.

I let out a heavy sigh. I didn’t know when Qi Mubai had appeared behind me. He looked at the scene downstairs and smiled, “Humans are scarier than Zombies.”

I had no strength to refute.

He was absolutely right. At least Zombies don’t eat their own kind, but humans do.

I felt a bit pessimistic. “Do you think we’ll die tomorrow?”

Qi Mubai looked at me coolly and said nothing.

The people downstairs became more and more outrageous. I watched helplessly as the old man and the little girl were bullied until their heads were bleeding, while those people laughed loudly, calling them ‘old things.’ I was so angry I cried, “Don’t you have any shame? I’m so mad! If only I hadn’t seen this, now I feel so awful…”

Qi Mubai: “…”

“They’re even stepping on the child’s face. They’re not human, it’s disgusting…”

Unconsciously, I clenched my fists so hard I hurt myself. Qi Mubai frowned, “Let go of your hand!”

With nowhere to vent my anger, I lashed out at him, “What’s it to you? Mind your own business!”

Qi Mubai: “…”

After a moment, he suddenly said, “Look now.”

With tear-filled eyes, I looked down. I didn’t know where a few Zombies had come from, but they looked pretty formidable. The Superpowers of those people were useless now; in just a few moves, the Zombies killed them all.

I was shocked, unable to react to what had happened. The Zombies left, leaving the old man and the little girl trembling in place.

I looked at Qi Mubai. He was still watching me, his thin lips slowly spitting out a few words: “Pathetic.”

Me: “…”

Life continued on without any waves, and by the end of the month, we only had three days’ worth of food left.

My mom sighed with a worried face, “It seems hiding here isn’t a solution…”

I thought for a moment and volunteered, “Mom, I’m a Zombie, I eat less. You two don’t eat, just give all the food to me. I can last half a month…”

My mom: “…”

Qi Mubai: “…”

“Qian Duoduo, is it because I haven’t beaten you these days that you’re getting cheeky? Hm?” My mom put her hands on her hips, and I immediately sensed trouble. Under Qi Mubai’s disdainful gaze, I quietly retreated to my room.

Just as we were at a loss, another piece of news arrived.

B City has established the first Survivor Base. Survivors from all over the country can go there.

My mom was overjoyed and checked the address, finding it was quite close to our home.

“How about… we go and check it out?”

I wholeheartedly agreed with this decision. After all, it meant we’d have a shelter.

Qi Mubai had no objections either, so we set out that afternoon.

To ensure we arrived safely, my mom armed all of us and prepared a weapon for each person.
