Chapter 11
As soon as I stepped out, I saw Qi Mubai in the living room, and I was startled.
My mom hadn’t spoken loudly, and the laundry room was far from here, so he probably didn’t hear anything, right?
Just to be safe, I tested him subtly, “Did you hear anything?”
Qi Mubai was sitting on the sofa, looking youthful and energetic in his hoodie. His golden hair hung over his forehead, and his long legs were casually propped up on the coffee table.
“You, you, you-I’m going to tell on you!” I finally caught something on him, so I immediately called my mom out, “Mom! Come look, Qi Mubai is up to no good!”
By the time my mom came out, Qi Mubai had already pulled back his legs and was sitting there obediently, looking innocent. “What’s wrong, Auntie?”
Even I couldn’t resist this well-behaved act, let alone my mom.
She smiled kindly, “It’s nothing, you go ahead and play.” Then she shot me a fierce glare before heading back.
Me: “…”
“Green tea!” (slang, meaning someone who pretends to be innocent but is actually manipulative)
As soon as my mom left, Qi Mubai reverted to his true self, giving a wicked grin. “Better learn your lesson. Don’t go tattling so easily next time.”
With that, he pulled out his phone, propped his legs back up on the coffee table, and started playing a game.
I was so angry I gritted my teeth, but the sounds from the game were so enticing that I shamelessly edged closer.
Watching him play so happily made my hands itch. I wanted to download the game myself, but I didn’t even know what it was called, so I had to swallow my pride and ask, “Um… what’s this?”
Qi Mubai: “Why should I tell you?”
Me: “…”
I watched helplessly as he finished another round. I couldn’t help but curse, “Would it kill you to tell me? So stingy…”
Qi Mubai: “Not telling you. Don’t bother me.”
Fine, fine. Patience is a virtue!
If being tough doesn’t work, let’s try being soft.
I shamelessly scooted over to sit beside him. His hands paused for a moment. I moved even closer, and with a bold heart, hugged his arm.
Qi Mubai’s body stiffened.
I went all out, acting spoiled like I do with my mom, “Come on, just tell me, big brother, please tell me.”
Ugh! Gross.
Even if it didn’t work, at least I could disgust him a little.
The little character in the game, which had never died before, suddenly died.
Qi Mubai’s fingers froze on the screen. After a long moment, he turned his head, looking down at me, his gaze suddenly deep and intense.
For no reason, I suddenly felt a pang of anxiety and immediately let go of him.
“What are you looking at? Fine, don’t tell me…”
I quickly stood up, feeling a bit guilty for some reason, “I’m going to bed. Do whatever you want…”
Qi Mubai returned to normal, snorted coldly, and said nothing.
Looking at how well-dressed he was, I remembered that when I first met him, he hadn’t brought any luggage. After coming to my house, I had no idea where all his clothes and shoes came from-he had enough to wear something different every day. So I curiously asked, “Where did you get all these clothes?”
Qi Mubai kept playing his game, not even looking up, “Not telling you.”
Tch.
Ever since that fever, I’d become much more normal.
I could eat and go to the bathroom, though I didn’t eat much-compared to my previous appetite, it was barely worth mentioning.
Even my walking speed had picked up. While still not as fast as a normal human, it was much better than before.
And my face no longer had that pale, deathly look. Just by appearance, you couldn’t even tell I was a Zombie anymore.
My mom looked at me and asked, “So is she human now, or still a Zombie?”
Qi Mubai hesitated, “She’s a Zombie. But maybe she’s a bit special…”
Just then, the news anchor on TV looked panicked, “Breaking news: Many people are reporting that Zombies’ strength and speed have increased dramatically, making them much harder to deal with. It seems Dr. Qi’s theory was correct. As humans evolve, Zombies are evolving too. We’re about to face even greater survival challenges…”
My mom swallowed nervously, “Do we still have enough food? Let’s not go out for a while…” She glanced at me, “You too. Now you look just like a human. If the Zombies don’t recognize you, they might eat you…”
I thought so too. After finally becoming a bit more normal, staying alive was the priority.
For a long time, none of us went out.
The TV signal came and went. I spent my days leaning against the window, watching and watching, and saw that things outside had turned into complete chaos.

Kiss the Zombie Girl
I am a Zombie.
Early in the morning, my mom burst into my room, yanked open the curtains, and, wearing an apron and brandishing a spatula, shouted at me: “Still sleeping? Stayed up...
