Half an hour later, He Xiuyuan burst into the private room, drenched in sweat.
He asked Yaoyao to leave, wanting to speak with me alone.
“What do you want to talk about?” I asked, lifting my bloodshot eyes to look at him blankly.
He knelt in front of me, his expression devoid of emotion. “Qi Yue is my ex-girlfriend.”
“How long were you together?”
“Seven years.”
“How long has it been since you broke up?”
“Four years.”
“Do you still love her?”
He Xiuyuan didn’t say a word.
His silence was his admission.
I felt like laughing, but the more I laughed, the more the tears fell. “Why are you two doing this? She can’t let go of you, so she comes to ruin my wedding. I sobbed, clawing at my bridal veil.

I don’t know how much time passed before I finally heard his voice.
“I’m still going to marry you. Just act like this never happened.”
My vision went dark, as if a bolt of lightning had struck me from above. A sharp, needle-like pain pierced through me, followed by a surge of monumental rage.
He thought this marriage was some kind of charity? A gift to me?
