Chapter 101
Chapter 101
The current issue to consider was how exactly to leave this dreamscape.
Now that she knew the reason for Yi Weichun’s death, yet hadn’t left the dream, it meant that simply knowing the cause of death wasn’t enough to escape.
What else could it be?
Could it be that she needed to resolve He Ling’s inner turmoil?
Judging from the previous dream cycles, He Ling was deeply affected by the fact that Yi Weichun had died by her own hands. In several of the dreams, her image even appeared with her eyes gouged out.
She believed she had been blind and foolish, which was why she had caused Yi Weichun’s death.
In reality, it was all York’s conspiracy.
Just thinking of York made her wish she could eliminate him immediately.
It was still unknown who had given him the pills that caused hallucinations. The method used in the previous layer of the dream might not be useless; as long as she could prevent He Ling from taking that pill and allow her to learn the truth of what happened back then, perhaps this endless dream could be resolved.
She weighed her options, mentally reviewing every detail once more, before standing up and walking out of the dormitory building.

Tu Nan knocked on the door of the Dean’s office.
With the dream shattered, Priestley must have fallen into the next layer of the dream along with her. Priestley was a man shrouded in mystery; to be the Dean of the Fairy Tale Hospital, he was certainly no ordinary person. Since she was awake, he must have regained consciousness as well.
She still needed his help with many things.
“Come in.”
Tu Nan pushed the door open and walked inside. She sat down across from the desk, looking at Priestley calmly.
Priestley paused, set down his pen, and interlaced his fingers, looking at her with an air of practiced composure.
“Miss Tu Nan, I’m glad to see you’re still looking for me.” He gestured with his hands. “Could you tell me what exactly happened in the previous layer of the dream?”
Tu Nan recounted the previous events succinctly.
“Mr. Priestley, I believe we are in a partnership,” she remarked with blunt sarcasm. “But compared to mine, your contribution has been far too negligible.”
She had been pushed off a building, and yet there had been no sign of Priestley.
Tu Nan had no intention of being the only one doing the work in this deal.
Priestley smiled, entirely unbothered by Tu Nan’s words.
Tu Nan had indeed put in more effort in this dream; his reaping of the benefits without contributing was indeed a bit unseemly.
“Of course, it does weigh on my conscience to have you doing all the work, especially since you suffered such a great shock.” He was not a stingy man. “Once we get out, I will compensate you with a Skill Card as a token of my sincerity.”
“Deal.” Tu Nan smiled slightly. “I think we can now discuss what to do next.”
“Tell me your thoughts?” Priestley made a “please” gesture.
“We now know the cause of Yi Weichun’s death, but the dream hasn’t ended.”
“I once went through an Instance that was also a dreamscape. Once the master of the dream let go of their regrets, the dream shattered.”
She tapped the desk lightly with her index finger. “I suspect that we need to resolve He Ling’s inner knot before her dream will end.”
“That is very likely.” Priestley nodded. “Looking at your expression, you must have a plan already.”
“I do have a plan,” Tu Nan said, looking at him. “But I’ll need your cooperation.”
“With pleasure.” Priestley bowed his head. “Let’s hear it.”
“We could…”
*
York suddenly felt a bit cold. A gust of chilly wind brushed against his neck, which struck him as odd. Where would a cold draft come from in a hospital ward?
He opened his bleary eyes.
The next second, his eyes snapped wide, and every trace of sleepiness vanished.
How did he end up here?
York was, of course, no stranger to this place.
The hospital rooftop. He had once persuaded many young girls to jump from here, putting a period on their sinful lives.
He certainly didn’t think he was in the wrong; he was merely helping them find release. In a sense, they should even be thanking him.
He scrambled up from the ground in a panic. As he looked up, his heart gave a heavy thud, nearly leaping out of his throat.
“Who are you?”
He addressed the woman standing not far away, right at the edge of the roof.
From the back, she appeared to be wearing a nurse’s uniform. Her long, loose black hair whipped wildly in the wind.
He began to suspect this was some nurse’s prank, but he didn’t recall any nurse having such long, straight black hair.
In the darkness of the night, it looked like a clump of ink too thick to dissolve. Combined with her thin, gaunt frame, it gave off a distinctly macabre vibe.
But York wasn’t the type to be frightened by such a simple prank.
He steadied himself and called out, “Miss Nurse, bringing me here in the middle of the night has already violated the hospital’s Rules. I will definitely file a complaint against you.”
Usually, as soon as he brought up this threat, most people would immediately back down.
To his surprise, the woman didn’t react at all.
While he was still wondering what was going on, he suddenly heard two ethereal chuckles.
It sounded as if it came from far away, yet also as if it were right next to his ear.
York felt an inexplicable chill.
Aside from the nurses on duty, Fairy Tale Hospital was an extremely dangerous place for those who weren’t where they were supposed to be in the dead of night.
He didn’t intend to waste any more time with this bizarre woman; he wanted to return to his ward immediately.
Having made up his mind, York turned and walked quickly toward the door. He grabbed the handle and twisted it hard a few times, only to find that it was deadbolted.
This was a conspiracy directed at him.
Now, he had no choice but to face her.
“Who the hell are you?” He took a deep breath and shouted forcefully, “Stop playing ghost!”
“You don’t remember me?” The woman’s voice sounded strangely familiar.
He looked at her back suspiciously.
“Do we know each other?”
He thought it over. Could she be one of the women he had ‘saved’ in the past?
If that were the case, things would be easy. Those kinds of women were generally very foolish; their heads were empty, and they would obediently follow whatever he said as if it were gospel.
At this thought, he spoke again, his voice much softer this time.
“Have we met before? Did you come looking for me on purpose? There’s no need for this. You’re just a girl; don’t stand in such a dangerous place. Come down quickly.”
“Is that so?” The woman laughed. Under his watchful gaze, she slowly turned her head.
“We do know each other, and I did indeed come looking for you on purpose.” Her face was deathly pale, and a pair of pitch-black eyes stared at him, devoid of life.
On her wrist, which was white to the point of being sickly, she wore a red cord bracelet.
York narrowed his eyes. The moonlight was bright tonight, and it didn’t take much effort for him to see her face clearly.
In the next instant, his eyes widened in disbelief, wondering if he was hallucinating.
“Yi Weichun?”
