Chapter 57
The remaining three Players all looked over when they heard the commotion.
The first thing they saw was the peculiar and special behavior of Mirella.
The number of Fish Swarm in front of Mirella was fewer than anyone else’s, and her demeanor seemed the most gentle.
She reached out her hand toward the Fish Swarm.
Her palm was open and facing upward.
The Players saw Mirella’s lips move, as if she was saying something.
The Lead Fish seemed to understand human speech.
It suddenly stopped moving its fins and let the air carry its body into Mirella’s hand.
Mirella lifted the Lead Fish, fearlessly bringing its mouth close to her ear.
The Fish Bone retracted its tongue, and the dozens of rows of teeth that had been bared from the start also closed.
The Fish Bone was speaking.
Mirella was listening.
With the Lead Fish gone, the rest of the Fish Swarm formed a ring, swimming endlessly around her, like a curved wall of fish, creating an eerie yet stable scene.
“Hiss!” Feng Shan drew in a sharp breath, his voice tinged with barely concealed excitement even as he fled for his life.
“The Evil God’s power is truly formidable! She really can communicate with species other than humans. I didn’t expect she could even talk to monsters inside the Instance!
In the last Instance we played together, there were a lot of animal elements. No wonder she could clear it faster alone than our entire team!”
Feng Shan regretted rushing over to warn the other Players as soon as he noticed something unusual. “I should have stayed by her side. Then I could have heard exactly what she was saying to the fish. But it’s fine. Once this Instance is over, she’ll definitely become our teammate.”
Looking at Feng Shan’s confident face, and having seen him hit a wall twice in front of Mirella, Song Changrong hesitated to speak. He dodged the rapidly attacking Fish Swarm and said in a low voice, “Mirella always goes solo in every Instance. It’s not easy to recruit her.”
Feng Shan was unconcerned. “As long as someone is human, they’ll have flaws and desires. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have entered the Necromancer Game.”
“My Master once said, the last ten Players on the Heavenly Ranking are the most volatile-they can be replaced at any time by stronger ones. There are countless talented people in the Necromancer Game.
But in high-level Instances, what really pushes a Player to the top of the Heavenly Ranking isn’t just their own ability, but also the strength of their teammates.”
Feng Shan smiled. “The Instances will only get harder. She’ll understand this soon enough.”
He exchanged for a sharp knife, slicing open a Bone Fish that lunged at him, then glanced coldly to the side. “Just look at these people who can’t use their brains.”
Some still refused to listen.
After realizing water was useless, they exchanged for fire, trying to burn the Fish Swarm. But the fire was quickly extinguished on the Bone Fish, causing only superficial injuries.
Worse, it made the Bone Fish grow even more and sharper bone spines, which pierced straight through the Player’s Arm.
The Player could only scream in pain as they faced the now faster Fish Swarm, paying an even higher price to exchange for expensive Medicine to stop the bleeding quickly.
Soon, the Players’ attention was drawn to Lu Li and Luo Jia Bai, and they couldn’t help but exclaim.
“Why is their Fish Swarm moving so slowly? The white-haired guy looks familiar. Wasn’t he the one who got protected and directly promoted during the preliminary round outside the Instance?”
“Are you colorblind? That’s silver hair!”
Lu Li seemed distracted as he faced the Fish Swarm.
He kept his head slightly lowered, looking at the floor of the Prison.
To be more precise-
He was searching for something.
“It’s because he’s standing in the light! The light from the Skylight is so strong that even silver looks almost white, okay!”
“Those two have a really strange way of walking.”
“Feng Shan! I’ve already exchanged Items worth over a hundred thousand Points, but the Fish Swarm is immortal! They’re swimming even faster than before, and with these Shackles on, our stamina is draining rapidly-we can’t hold out much longer! I acknowledge you as our leader, what should we do now?”
“This place is nothing like a normal C Grade Instance! Some experts have analyzed it-B Grade is the watershed between Instances.
Below B Grade, you can just pile up Points and use Items to smash through Bosses and monsters, so some Players stay in D Grade for a long time just to farm Points.
I remembered that trending post on the Forum a few days ago-could we have entered a Bug Instance?”
“Feng Shan, stop trying to act tough, just ask your Master…”
“Wait a second.” Feng Shan shouted, his face grim, his gaze still fixed on Mirella.
Mirella placed the Lead Fish back at the front of the Fish Swarm, then moved.
She was actually walking toward Lu Li.
It seemed Lu Li’s initial choice was correct.
Feng Shan clenched his fists, unwilling, and said, “Follow me.”
He looked up and saw the Skylight, then guessed:
“It’s the Skylight and the light that’s hindering the Fish Swarm’s movement. They’re standing in the light-maybe that’s the way to clear the Instance. Let’s hurry over there too!”
Song Changrong’s eyes were deep as he approached Feng Shan and said, “The light can only hold up to six people.”
Feng Shan gave a sly smile.
“There are five of us, plus Mirella-doesn’t that make six?”
–
Lu Li suddenly noticed the area had become lively.
“Clack clack clack-!”
Almost all the Players rushed over as if fleeing for their lives, with a massive Fish Swarm trailing behind them, the sound of bones scraping echoing as they charged.
Luo Jia Bai’s expression changed, “What’s going on?”
He was distracted for a moment and almost got spotted by the Lead Fish, quickly returning to his previous rhythm.
Before Lu Li could answer, Luo Jia Bai’s shoulder was yanked hard, and he was pulled out of the lighted area, crashing heavily to the ground.
The Fish Swarm that had locked onto him followed, entering the dark area, and instantly sped up.
Luo Jia Bai scrambled to his feet, struggling to deal with the Lead Fish.
The Players rushed to squeeze into the lighted area, Feng Shan and Song Changrong were the fastest, and two other Players made it in as well.
One Player was left behind.
“Once you’re in the light, the Fish Swarm really does slow down!”
“We’re about to clear the Instance! I have trypophobia, I really can’t stand these swarming monsters-Wu Bin, get in here! The fish behind you are catching up!”
Wu Bin was panting heavily as he ran, looking at the cramped area packed with people, desperately trying to squeeze in.
“Let me in! Let me rest for a bit!” He even reached out and tried to pull the unmoving Lu Li out, “Give me your spot!”
Wu Bin used all his strength, his face turning red, but he couldn’t budge him.
“You’re not tall or fat, so why are you so heavy?”
“Lu Li! Don’t give up your spot!” Luo Jia Bai was furious in the dark area, about to head back when he saw this scene, “Are you guys crazy?! We were here first!”
The next second, Luo Jia Bai’s Arm was grabbed.
He was pulled by Lu Li, who had voluntarily stepped out of the light, into the dark area.
Lu Li straightened his Prison Uniform, which Wu Bin had wrinkled, and looked somewhat surprised at the sweaty Players, “I don’t know what game you’re playing, but I’m actually pretty busy, so I’ll pass on this one.”
