chapter 9
With the exams approaching, I began to intensify my study plan.
Shen Qingqie gradually faded from my sight.
The next time I ran into him was at the door of the sports equipment room.
The PE teacher had asked me to fetch the basketballs for class.
Just as I reached the equipment room door, I saw that familiar figure standing in front of it.
Shen Qingqie hung his head, the corners of his eyes tinged red, looking for all the world like a stray dog.
The door to the equipment room was half open, and inside, I could clearly hear Xu Anran and her friend talking.
“Anran, you actually dare to eat what he gave you? His dad’s a lunatic, who knows if he’s carrying some kind of virus.” Her friend said with disgust.
“Don’t say that, virus or whatever,” Xu Anran’s voice floated out lazily, “It’s genetics. Look at him, always with that gloomy face-he must’ve inherited some of that old lunatic’s genes… But it’s fine, I’m just playing around.”
Her friend laughed loudly: “Hahahahaha, but he seems pretty serious about you. I heard he’s working three jobs outside just to support you. That’s hilarious, what a sucker.”
“Just an idiot, flirt a little and he falls right in,” Xu Anran sneered, “By the way, don’t say stuff like this in front of him. Act innocent. I haven’t had enough fun with this little mad dog yet.”
Shen Qingqie’s hand, holding the cake, trembled slightly.
Seeing your white moonlight fall from her pedestal must be hard to bear.
Serves him right.
Hearing Xu Anran’s words, I finally understood.
With her personality, maybe in my previous life she never wrote Shen Qingqie a love letter at all. She only said that to slander me and provoke Qin Ye.
This time, I didn’t want to get involved in their melodramatic drama anymore. I turned to leave.
But Shen Qingqie grabbed my wrist tightly.
“Let go!”
I couldn’t break free, and he dragged me outside.
He pinned me against the corner, almost frenzied.
Those cold eyes were now filled with hatred.
“Was it you who spread rumors about my dad?
Bai Ran, are you satisfied now?
Do you like me that much? Enough to ruin my relationship with her??”
Angry, I raised my leg and kicked him away.
After living together for ten years, even without love, there should be basic trust.
But luckily, I’d already stopped hoping for anything from him.
I looked at him coldly:
“Shen Qingqie, are you paranoid? Wasn’t it you who told everyone about your dad on your very first day after transferring?
Like you? How thick-skinned can you be?
Xu Anran was right, you really are an idiot.”

I’m Not Your Second Choice
On Xu Anran’s wedding day, my lover jumped from the eighteenth floor.
When I opened the door to his studio, it was filled with portraits of Xu Anran.
The brushstrokes were rough...
