Chapter 29

Chu Yue didn’t stay for long. After staying one more day, he left S City on the sixth day.

After getting off the plane, he headed straight for the Chu Family Mansion.

Tomorrow happened to be Old Master Chu’s seventieth birthday. Regardless of anything else, he had to go there tonight.

The Chu Family was a prominent clan in Jingcheng. Their ancestral home wasn’t located in some prime real estate district where every inch of land was worth its weight in gold, but the neighbors on all sides were people of significant standing.

“Is that psycho coming tomorrow for such an important day?”

Handing his gift to the old butler, Chu Yue heard these words just as he stepped into the living room.

Raising a hand to signal the person about to announce him to stay quiet, he walked slowly toward the source of the voice.

Sitting on the sofa was a young man in his early twenties, not much younger than Chu Yue. However, his hair was a riot of colors, making him look like a complete delinquent.

“It’s seriously annoying. Ever since we were kids, nothing good happens whenever he’s involved. I heard he just handed his company over to someone else a few days ago. He’s literally insane. What a spendthrift!”

“Excuse me,” Chu Yue said, his voice devoid of emotion. “Is the ‘psycho’ you’re talking about me?”

His sudden voice startled the person on the sofa, who immediately began to curse, “Goddammit, which bastard-”

When he turned his head and saw who was standing behind him, his expression changed instantly. The rest of his words were forced back down his throat, replaced by a look of resentment.

“Why don’t you make any sound when you walk?”

The woman sitting beside him stood up quickly, her face full of embarrassment.

“Xiao Yue is here! Come, sit down. Dinner will be ready soon.”

Chu Yue didn’t acknowledge her at all. His eyes were fixed solely on Chu Lian as he repeated his previous question, “Is the ‘psycho’ you’re talking about me?”

Though the words were ordinary enough, Chu Lian felt a distinct shiver run down his spine.

He stood up, trying to make himself look less intimidated, and looked at Chu Yue provocatively. “What? Am I not allowed to speak now without Big Brother’s permission?”

Chu Yue glanced at him. “Don’t make me repeat myself a third time.”

This time, Chu Lian saw the sneer in his eyes. It seemed to mock his cowardice, as if he only dared to gossip behind people’s backs.

A surge of nameless anger suddenly welled up in his heart. Why did he look down on him? Why did he look at him with that kind of gaze?

With this thought in mind, Chu Lian stiffened his neck and roared, “Yes! That’s right! I was talking about you!”

The woman hurriedly tried to pull him back, but Chu Lian didn’t listen. He tossed his colorful hair, becoming even more arrogant. “Psycho! Psycho! Everyone in our circle knows the Young Master of the Chu Family is a psycho! You’re a total disgrace to the Chu Family!”

After he shouted this, silence fell over the Hall for a moment.

Chu Lian realized what he had said. His lips twitched twice, and he felt a hint of regret in his heart, yet his eyes remained fixed on Chu Yue without blinking.

Meanwhile, the other man was slowly and methodically rolling up his shirt sleeves.

“Are you finished?” Chu Yue asked.

Chu Lian suddenly felt a bit apprehensive. He took half a step back. “What do you want to do?”

“Nothing much. It’s just been a while since I’ve heard that name from your mouth. I felt a bit nostalgic.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Chu Yue moved like lightning, landing a punch squarely on Chu Lian’s face.

Before anyone could react, he stepped forward, grabbed Chu Lian by the collar, and landed several more punches directly on that mouth.

“I’m a spendthrift?”

“Drag racing, gambling on stones, keeping mistresses.”

He threw a punch for every item he listed.

“Haoting by day, Miyin by night. You spend money like water. If we’re talking about being a spendthrift, could I possibly outdo you?”

“Ah-!”

The woman standing nearby finally snapped out of it. Letting out a scream, she lunged toward Chu Yue.

“Stop hitting him! Stop it! Xiao Yue, stop this instant! This is your brother!”

Unfortunately, her strength was limited. Forget pulling them apart; Chu Yue simply swung his arm and shoved her back onto the sofa.

By the time the people upstairs heard the commotion and came down, Chu Yue was standing in front of the sofa, leaning over to pull a tissue from the box on the table.
The woman crouched on the floor, cradling Chu Lian’s head. She turned and screamed at the surrounding servants, “An ambulance! Call an ambulance, quickly!”

Chu Yue wiped the blood from his hands and looked over with an indifferent gaze. “No need.”

Those two simple words pinned the person who had already started moving to the spot.

“Just call Sinan over to take a look.”

“Chu Yue!” the woman shrieked.

Chu Yue smiled at her. “Why are you shouting so loud? I’m not deaf. You’d better save that energy to scream for Chu Yanting tonight.”

The meaning behind his words was incredibly crude. Combined with what he had just done, it didn’t seem like something Chu Yue was capable of at all.

The woman stared at him blankly, her voice failing her as tears began to fall.

“What kind of nonsense are you talking!” Chu Yanting came downstairs. Before he could even figure out what had happened, he heard Chu Yue’s rebellious words.

“What’s going on?”

He took a few steps closer. Once he saw the situation clearly, Chu Yanting felt his blood rush to his head, and a surge of anger erupted.

“What exactly is going on here! Chu Yue! You hit him? You barely ever come home, and the moment you do, you cause trouble! You’ve certainly grown capable!”

Chu Yue hadn’t actually hit him too hard. Chu Lian had no other injuries on his body; only his face was swollen like a pig’s head, blood leaked from his mouth, and two teeth were missing.

For Chu Yue, this was already a result of showing mercy.

Chu Yue completely ignored him, sitting down on his own and picking up an orange from the table to peel.

Chu Yanting was nearly knocked over by his attitude. “What kind of attitude is this!”

“What’s all the noise about? Can’t a man have a single day of peace?” Elder Chu came downstairs a step behind.

As if he didn’t see Chu Lian lying on the floor, he walked straight toward Chu Yue.

“Oh, let me see which busy man has graced us with his presence?”

Chu Yue stood up to meet him and stuffed the freshly peeled orange into the old man’s hand. “Didn’t I just come by a few days ago?”

“That was over half a month ago,” the old man huffed. He turned his head. “What happened here? Hurry up and help him up.”

His eyes were slightly clouded with age, but his words carried an innate authority.

With a side glance at the old butler, the butler stepped forward and recounted the events in detail.

However, his expression became somewhat unnatural when he mentioned the word “psycho.”

He wasn’t the only one; after hearing it, Chu Yanting’s hands paused, and a strange look appeared on his face.

Elder Chu didn’t need to hear the rest. His face turned cold the moment he heard those words.

His gaze swept over to Chu Lian. “You’re the one who said it?”

Chu Lian clutched his face, his whole body trembling with fear, and he didn’t dare respond.

Elder Chu said “Good” three times in a row and immediately gave the order to cut off his cards.

For the sake of a quick tongue, he had truly lost everything.

Not only had he been beaten by Chu Yue, but his living expenses were also cut off.

But how could he dare to say anything? Even the woman was so terrified she didn’t even dare to cry.

Zhao Sinan arrived quite quickly, but he was somewhat speechless when he saw Chu Lian’s injuries.

Why call him because someone got their teeth knocked out? Was he expected to do dental work? This had to be a joke!

In the end, he could only give him two painkillers to take for the time being.

After all, they were both his grandsons. Although Elder Chu disliked him, he couldn’t just leave him like that.

Ultimately, the boy was sent to the hospital.

Chu Yue didn’t have any other motive for calling Zhao Sinan over; it was time for his own bandages to be changed.

Without letting Elder Chu know, Chu Yue took the doctor back to his room.

As soon as they entered, Zhao Sinan started nagging. “Where have you been the last two days? I went to your place to change your dressing and you weren’t home. It’s been so many days, I don’t know if it’s infected.”

“I don’t know,” Chu Yue said, then moved his shoulder. “Hurry up and check it for me. It’s been feeling strangely itchy these past two days.”

Zhao Sinan rolled his eyes at him. It would be a miracle if it weren’t itchy after being smothered in there for so many days.

However, when he unwrapped the bandages and saw the wound, he froze in place.
