Chapter 14

Xia Wei and Zhou Mingli, who had been hiding in the kitchen the whole time, poked their heads out to observe the scene in the living room.

Lin Lang cast a fleeting glance their way, scaring them so badly they immediately retracted their heads.

Brother Chen forced himself to remain calm, following my lead. “So he’s your boyfriend… He’s quite the handsome fellow… Ah!”

The sledgehammer flew through the air out of nowhere, slamming into Brother Chen’s shin.

“Anyone who has seen the videotape must die.”

Lin Lang was toweringly tall. He looked down with lowered eyes at Brother Chen, who was kneeling on the floor and howling in pain. His tone was devoid of joy or sorrow.

“You’re breaking the rules!” Brother Chen shouted reproachfully. Because the pain was so intense, physiological tears blurred his entire face. “This isn’t right! Even if you want my life, you have to wait seven days before you can come for it!”

Lin Lang frowned slightly. I grabbed his hand and forced him to turn around and look me in the eye.

“You’ve been away on business for so long. Aren’t you tired?”

Seeing that he wasn’t responding, I started spouting cheesy pick-up lines on my own:

“Not tired? But you’ve been running through my mind all day.

“I feel like you’re very strange today-strangely heart-fluttering.

“I only have one standard for a boyfriend, and that is: it must be you.”

The furrow between Lin Lang’s brows deepened. He raised his hand, gripping my throat with one palm as his emotions began to fluctuate. “Don’t think that playing dumb will stop me from killing you.”

My face turned bright red, but I managed to squeeze out one more line: “Man, give me a kiss, and my life is yours.”

In the end, that life wasn’t given away.

Just before I suffocated, Lin Lang threw me aside and walked step by step toward Brother Chen, who had collapsed on the floor.

However, he was blocked by the Spider Girl I had fed earlier. She was on all fours, and she glanced at me as I clutched my throat and coughed violently. Upon seeing the red marks on my neck, she let out a piercing shriek, like a wild cat with its fur standing on end.

But the closer Lin Lang got to her, the more she curled her body inward, seemingly terrified.

Brother Chen, however, became excited upon seeing the girl’s figure, muttering to himself, “I found it, I found it! I can leave the game soon!”

He pulled a lock of black hair from his coat and reached out toward the girl, laughing and crying at the same time. “This is a lock of your enemy’s hair. Yes, go and take your revenge on her, good girl…”

Lin Lang stopped in his tracks, watching as the Spider Girl turned around and silently took the lock of hair.

Then, she reached out and ran Brother Chen clean through.

Until the moment he drew his last breath, Brother Chen maintained an expression of utter disbelief. Then, his body dissolved into points of light and scattered away.
