Chapter 13
“Don’t panic. Seven days… we still have seven days…”
Brother Chen’s trembling voice drifted through the darkness.
However, a blood-curdling scream from Stubble Man cut him short.
The sound of bones snapping echoed through the room. Stubble Man wailed and sobbed, begging for mercy, but his pleas were ignored.
Dull thuds followed, one after another, sounding like someone pounding rice cakes.
The shrieks were so piercing they made my eardrums ache.
I frowned, but suddenly, a pair of ice-cold palms covered my ears.
The world fell silent-so quiet that the only thing I could hear was the sound of air flowing between the fingers.
Click.
The living room lights flickered back on. Stubble Man, who had been there just moments ago, was gone. Brother Chen and his two remaining lackeys were deathly pale.
“Boss… Second Bro’s whole body was smashed to pieces… right in front of me…” Underling C babbled incoherently. His stomach churned, and he scrambled into the bathroom.
I didn’t have time to worry about them. I simply looked up at the man in front of me, meeting those pitch-black eyes.
In a sudden flash of inspiration, I blurted out, “So you’ve been working a side gig behind my back this whole time…”
The man’s expression darkened, and he slowly raised the iron hammer in his right hand.
Having finally fished my Boyfriend’s name from the depths of my memory, I immediately stood on my tiptoes, wrapped my arms around his waist, and said softly, “I missed you so much, Lin Lang.”
“I’m not…” the man stammered. With his arms pinned by my tight embrace, the iron hammer fell to the floor with a heavy *clang*.
“Don’t you dare talk back,” I threatened.
“…”
The man-no, Lin Lang-tilted his head and looked at me as if I were some kind of exotic species.
Despite his tall and imposing stature, the gesture didn’t feel out of place at all. He looked like a Border Collie.
Acting cute is cheating!
I reached up and rubbed his cool cheeks.
Then, I dragged Lin Lang over to the shivering Brother Chen.
“Boss, this is my boyfriend. He just got back from a business trip,” I introduced him. “Oh? Where did those other guys go? We haven’t even eaten yet.”
“We were wrong… we were so wrong… Boss, she’s not some non-participant. She’s a Strange Tale too. She lured us into this house just to kill us.”
Underling B muttered to himself in a total breakdown. He shoved past me and bolted out the door.
In the distance, I caught a glimpse of the Masked Woman-the one I had encouraged earlier-passing by my door. When she saw Underling B, she began to slowly advance in the direction he had fled. It looked like she was looking for someone to rate her looks again.

I Treat the Horror World as an Otome Game
I fell into a world of Strange Tales, but I thought I was playing a romance otome game.
At the stroke of midnight, the cobweb-covered landline rang. A raspy, eerie voice drifted through the...
