Chapter 11
Brother Chen spoke to Xia Wei. “We’ve found the anchor for this game. The key lies with an aborted child ghost. As long as you give her her mother’s hair and let her take her revenge, we’ll be able to leave.”
“Don’t bother looking at that non-participant. You’re a newbie, so you don’t know yet-whenever we mention anything related to the game, the world filters it out. She can’t hear us.”
Zhou Mingli gripped Xia Wei’s hand and sneered. “Why does Xia Wei have to be the one to hand the hair to the ghost? If you guys know the way to clear the game, why don’t you try it yourselves?”
“I’ve seen that thing once. It’s cautious. Compared to us, Xia Wei has more appeal as a girl. Besides, don’t forget who’s been keeping you alive until now.”
Stubble Man cracked his knuckles. “Young man, in this lawless territory, don’t think ghosts are the only things to be afraid of. When people are pushed to the brink, they’re capable of anything.”
Under such a threat, Xia Wei nodded slowly. “Okay…”
I stood there holding the cabbage, unable to resist muttering a resentful complaint behind their backs.
“People are capable of anything when pushed to the brink, except making a ‘low-key yet luxurious’ PPT like the client asked for.”
The group, who had been talking heatedly just a moment ago, fell silent. They all turned their heads to look at me in unison.
“You can hear us?”
“I’m not deaf,” I replied. What a bizarre question. “Here, you two kids, go to the kitchen and wash this cabbage.”
Zhou Mingli pulled Xia Wei along as they practically fled into the kitchen.
The grown men shifted their gazes away from mine and turned their attention to the television.
“Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog! Welcome to the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!”
Childish sound effects drifted from the TV. Stubble Man cursed at the screen, grabbed the remote, and changed the channel.
“Patrick Star! Let’s go catch jellyfish together!”
On the screen, a yellow sponge block holding a net ran happily alongside a pink starfish.
“Is this TV cursed?” He flipped through several more channels, but every program playing was something like Peppa Pig.
I scratched my head sheepishly and pulled out the videotape Xia Wei had given me. “Well, do you big brothers want to watch this? It’s some… good stuff.”
The bright red “18+” rating on the cover was very eye-catching.
Brother Chen’s expression became a bit strained. “Miss, you… don’t play that kind of thing.”
Stubble Man gave a lewd grin and nudged Brother Chen’s waist. “What’s the matter, Big Brother? You shy? Don’t be such a wimp! Come on, come on, Miss, I see you’re a woman of culture. Play it! Play it!”
I smiled as I pushed the disc into the player.
I hoped they would enjoy it.

I Treat the Horror World as an Otome Game
I fell into a world of Strange Tales, but I thought I was playing a romance otome game.
At the stroke of midnight, the cobweb-covered landline rang. A raspy, eerie voice drifted through the...
