Chapter 43
Chapter 43
Li Lei had run into a guide who offered to arrange a hotel the moment she stepped out of the train station.
At the time, she hadn’t thought much of it and agreed immediately.
She never expected that after just one night in that hotel, she would have hardly any of the money she brought with her left.
On her second day in Shanghai, she was further swindled by an agency and sent to a sweatshop.
After going through immense hardship to escape, she encountered a pyramid scheme organization while out looking for work.
If she hadn’t happened to run into police officers on duty, she likely would have suffered a severe beating at the very least.
Zhang Bei suppressed a smile and called in the next interviewee.
The interviews for the five candidates took a full two hours. Once finished, he handed everyone over to Li Yang for assignment.
Zhang Bei finally felt like he could breathe a sigh of relief.
With the new employees, the queueing speed at the Amusement Park improved instantly.
With twenty-two employees now working at the Amusement Park, they finally had enough staff to maintain daily operations.
When afternoon came, Shen Nan found Zhang Bei in the Toy House, where he was working on some designs.
“Xiao Bei, I’m back!”
Zhang Bei looked up and saw Shen Nan, her forehead beaded with sweat.
“How did you get back so fast?”
Shen Nan smiled. “They just wanted money. Once I gave it to them, there was no more trouble.”
Zhang Bei nodded. “I see. Regarding this Toy House, I don’t plan on managing it myself. I’m preparing to hand it over to you.”
As he spoke, he pulled out a list of manufacturers.
“I’ll collect a fifty-thousand-yuan management fee at the end of every year. During the year, everything from pricing to production will be your responsibility.”
Hesitation flickered across Shen Nan’s face. There was no doubt that, given the current popularity of the Amusement Park, this business would definitely be profitable.
Zhang Bei was clearly giving her this opportunity for the sake of their long-standing friendship.
“Alright, I accept.”
Shen Nan pondered for a long time before finally agreeing. With this Toy House, she would be able to pay Zhang Bei back sooner.
A smile appeared on Zhang Bei’s face. “Here are the plushies currently in the Amusement Park, and here are the manufacturers’ contact details.”
He placed several documents in front of Shen Nan, everything necessary for the Toy House.
“Sister Nan, look these over first. I’ll go prepare the contract.”
“Mhm, sorry for the trouble, Xiao Bei!”
“It’s no trouble at all!”
Zhang Bei stepped out and walked toward the grounds.
Knowing that Shen Nan was willing to settle down at the amusement park made Zhang Bei feel much more at ease.
Having to personally oversee the Toy House for the past few days had been quite a hassle.
However, since it was the first place people saw when entering and exiting the Amusement Park, it was naturally very important.
Zhang Bei wouldn’t have felt comfortable just handing it over to anyone.
Now that Shen Nan was taking over, it was a solid choice.
During the afternoon, Zhang Bei leaned back in a chair in the Amusement Park once again.
Directly in front of him was the Giant Swing, which was currently swarming with people.
The Giant Swing served as a way to divert the crowds from the Drop Tower, yet there were always new tourists joining the queue.
The air was filled with the intense screams of countless people, while on the ground, tourists were being carted away one by one on stretchers.
Everything was orderly and full of harmony.
Not far away, several figures wearing white lab coats approached.
The doctor walked at the front, followed by two middle-aged men wearing glasses.
Bringing up the rear was a group of students with the word “Intern” printed in large letters on their shoulders.
“Boss, these are Professor Wei and Professor Yao from the medical school, and behind them are their students.”
Zhang Bei nodded and glanced at the tourists waiting in line nearby.
“Since you’re all here, why don’t you experience it first? It just so happens there’s space on the Giant Swing.”
The doctor’s expression stiffened. “Boss, isn’t that a bit inappropriate?”
“It’s fine. Only after experiencing it clearly can we prescribe the right remedy for the situation.”
Professor Wei glanced over, vaguely recalling Doctor Wang’s previous warning.
“We two old fogies won’t be playing. Let the kids go up instead.”
“Are you sure?”
“No need!”
“Alright then. Get ready, and I’ll send you up.”
The medical students’ faces were beaming with smiles.
After all, they had originally been dragged out by their professor just to gain some experience; they never expected they would actually get to enjoy the Amusement Park.
They quickly donned the protective suits and sat in the chairs while Zhang Bei stepped back outside the railing.
“Hey brothers, are you doctors?” a man nearby asked.
The medical student who was addressed looked proud.
“We’re medical students. We’re here to gain some experience!”
“That’s good. Staying here for a few days will definitely give you plenty of experience.”
After saying that, the man couldn’t help but offer a warning: “If you get scared in a bit, just close your eyes.”
The medical student chuckled. “What’s there to be afraid of? I’ve touched more corpses than I have women’s hands.”
As the man felt the Giant Swing start up, he hurriedly grabbed the only safety belt on his body.
“Well, good luck then!”
Persuasion was useless. In this Amusement Park, you only knew what true despair was once you experienced it for yourself.
The last person who was that stubborn was currently lying in the Morgue; who knew how long it would take for them to wake up.
Soon, the Giant Swing began its motion. The medical students cheered as gusts of wind whipped against their faces.
The pressure of studying medicine was unimaginable; the books they had to read every semester could be stacked as high as a person.
And that didn’t even include practical courses, human anatomy, and the like.
Opportunities to relax like this were few and far between; it was extremely rare to encounter one.
The group’s laughter lasted for five minutes before the Giant Swing entered its second phase.
Watching the outer ring suddenly rise higher, the medical students instinctively began to calculate.
Based on their current speed, they were bound to fly out. Falling from this height, there was absolutely no chance of survival.
Their years of medical training made them all realize that death was imminent.
In that split second, a massive amount of knowledge flooded their minds.
Techniques for reattaching various limbs, suturing shredded flesh…
Within seconds, the Giant Swing suddenly soared into the sky.
*Classmate, if you’re so damn good, why don’t you just go to heaven?*
At this moment, the group finally had an answer to that question.
Go to heaven?
I’ve actually been there!
Zhang Bei stood to the side chatting with the two professors, completely oblivious to the passage of time.
It wasn’t until the music in his ears stopped that he turned his head toward the Giant Swing.
The staff had already gone up to help unbuckle the safety belts. Zhang Bei walked over with the two professors.
However, the scene before them made the two professors’ hearts leap into their throats.
Forty people were kneeling on the ground, and ten others had fainted outright.
The two professors exchanged a glance and hurriedly stepped forward to begin checking on them.
The medical students happened to be at the front of the line.
Professor Wei reached out with one hand to help one of them up.
The psychological resilience of medical students was indeed strong; it was already quite an achievement that they hadn’t fainted during their first time on an attraction.
However, as Zhang Bei leaned in, the first thing he heard was a sobbing voice.
“Teacher… I promise I’ll study hard from now on!”
Zhang Bei’s lip twitched. He hadn’t expected the Giant Swing to have the added function of promoting academic diligence.
Still, this kind of attraction probably shouldn’t be opened to minors. After all, they were the flowers of the motherland and needed to be nurtured.
