Chapter 39

With his amusement park doing so well, it was inevitable that jealous people would try to jump on the bandwagon.

However, the place he had just seen was doing exactly that-blindly following a trend.

They didn’t even understand the secret behind why his park was such a hit.

They simply assumed that having a high enough volume of tourists was enough to sustain an amusement park.

This was why Zhang Bei wasn’t worried. Even a giant like Disney was currently operating at a loss.

Thinking that tourists alone could support a park was never that simple.

Zhang Bei had been able to ensure the park’s profitability largely because of the high replayability of his attractions.

Most tourists who had visited would think of this unassuming amusement park whenever they were under high pressure.

It might be the Drop Tower, the Ski Resort, the Underground Maze, or perhaps the Giant Swing.

As long as they remembered it, they would inevitably choose this place for their next outing.

This was the real reason Zhang Bei’s park maintained its high popularity and guaranteed long-term profits.

Just as Zhang Bei returned to the Toy House, Qingqing came looking for him.

“Boss, I know two really good psychologists. Do you want to go see them?”

Zhang Bei: “???”

“Why would I need to see a psychologist?”

Qingqing looked at the Giant Swing, where people were still lining up. “Are you sure you aren’t a sociopath?”

Zhang Bei’s face darkened. “What nonsense are you talking about?”

“Then tell me, why does that Giant Swing launch people into the sky!”

Qingqing felt her heart skip a beat just looking at the Giant Swing nearby.

The level of terror it induced far surpassed the Maze and the Ski Resort.

The moment you were launched into the sky, you didn’t just think about your last words-you even figured out who would inherit your debt.

Before Zhang Bei could speak, Qingqing pointed at a staff member nearby who was handing out protective suits.

“Tell me, what’s the point of those things?”

Zhang Bei gave them a profound look. “They’re for the tourists’ psychological comfort.”

“What?”

“Psychological comfort,” Zhang Bei repeated, enunciating clearly in case she hadn’t heard him.

Qingqing’s expression grew even darker as she took a deep breath.

She kept chanting to herself: *I can’t hit him. If I hit him, there won’t be anyone left to design fun attractions.*

Zhang Bei gave Qingqing a strange look before opening his computer to check on the competition.

The finals were now in the mid-stage, and several uniquely shaped houses had begun to take form before the public’s eyes.

Since Zhang Bei had finished his blueprints early, he naturally had more time left for the interior design.

Because the house was small this time, Zhang Bei could only use a duplex structure with a second floor and an attic to expand the usable space.

As for what the final product of the interior design would look like, even Zhang Bei didn’t know yet.

After watching the construction progress for a while, the doctor walked over, scratching his head.

“Boss, we have a problem.”

“What is it?”

“A tourist just got off the Giant Swing and is insisting that her heart was frightened into having a medical issue.”

Zhang Bei nodded. “Take me there.”

Whether it was an amusement park or a simple restaurant, one would always encounter various problems. If handled well, business would reach new heights.

If handled poorly, it could lead to a loss of popularity at best, or being forced to close down at worst.

They made their way to the Morgue, where Zhang Bei saw the person causing the scene.

A woman in her thirties was clutching her bag and shouting at Li Yang.

Li Yang was supposed to be off duty today and had planned to put on his instructor goggles for a full day of skiing, only to run into this woman.

As an employee of the amusement park, he didn’t let Zhang Bei’s trust down.

No matter how much the woman cursed, Li Yang kept a smile on his face and apologized repeatedly.
Zhang Bei’s arrival caused the woman to stop her shouting.

“Are you the boss here?”

“Yes, I am.”

Zhang Bei frowned as he looked at the woman in front of him. Just being near her, a strong scent of perfume stung his nose.

He looked at Li Yang, who was standing to the side. “Watch and learn.”

Then he turned back to the doctor. “Are you sure she’s fine?”

The doctor nodded with absolute certainty. “One hundred percent sure!”

Zhang Bei nodded, feeling relieved that he had hired a doctor to be on-site in advance.

Seeing that Zhang Bei was ignoring her, the woman’s anger flared up instantly.

“What exactly does your Amusement Park mean by this? You scare someone into a heart condition and then just wash your hands of it?”

Seeing that a crowd had already gathered around them, Zhang Bei sighed.

“So, you’re saying you were scared into a heart condition?”

Seeing the onlookers, the woman raised her voice even louder.

“I’m telling you, you gave me a fright! This matter isn’t getting resolved for anything less than five thousand yuan!”

Zhang Bei’s expression turned solemn. Five thousand yuan – that was two hundred and fifty tickets. It was enough to cover a week’s worth of ingredients for the kitchen, or a full month’s salary for an employee.

“Li Yang, call the police. And while you’re at it, ask which hospital is their designated facility for official appraisals.”

The woman suddenly panicked upon hearing Zhang Bei’s words. Why wasn’t this going the way it was supposed to?

Shouldn’t the boss just obediently hand over the money to keep things from blowing up?

This trick had never failed her, even at Disney. Why was it different here?

Li Yang finished the call quickly. “Boss, it’s the Central Hospital.”

Zhang Bei nodded. “Call them. We need a heart condition appraisal here.”

The woman looked at Zhang Bei’s calm face and gritted her teeth. She stealthily took a pill from her bag and popped it into her mouth.

Although Zhang Bei was talking to Li Yang, he noticed her subtle movement.

“Watch her. Don’t let her run off!”

After saying that, he pulled the doctor aside. “Is there any medication that can make a heart look like it has a medical condition?”

The doctor glanced at the woman in the crowd with surprise. “Plenty. Anything used to treat psychiatric issues can cause those symptoms.”

Zhang Bei frowned. “Is there any way to detect it?”

The doctor chuckled. “That’s even easier. Just a little bit of Futading. If this woman dares to take that, she’ll definitely have a problem.”

Zhang Bei nodded and stood to the side, waiting for the police to arrive.

Before long, a police car screeched to a halt. A valiant-looking woman emerged, followed by a frail-looking young officer.

Indeed, the two who arrived were none other than Sister Nan – who had previously misunderstood Zhang Bei and ended up fainting from fright – and Xiao Li.

Xiao Li still had that timid look as he followed behind Sister Nan.

The two of them quickly spotted Zhang Bei and walked straight over.

“What a coincidence, meeting again!”

Xiao Li nodded. “It really is a coincidence.”

The two had originally been on patrol when they suddenly received a dispatch. They hadn’t expected the location to be this amusement park.

Sister Nan stepped forward and stared at Zhang Bei. “You didn’t actually scare someone into a medical emergency, did you?”

“No. The 120 ambulance will be here soon, and we’ll know for sure then.”

Sister Nan nodded and stood quietly beside Zhang Bei to wait.

A few minutes later, an ambulance arrived with its sirens wailing. Two doctors in white coats rushed out, their eyes searching the scene.

“Where is the patient?”

The woman’s shrill voice rang out. “I’m over here! You’re finally here! My heart is thumping like crazy!”
