Chapter 38

Zhang Bei had just finished his eggs when You Bai’s voice drifted over.

“Boss, where are they?”

“On their way. They should be here any second!”

Sure enough, as soon as Zhang Bei finished speaking, the Mutual Aid Group walked in through the door.

“Boss, couldn’t you have waited for us?”

“Exactly! Boss, how could you have the heart to leave us behind?”

“Boss!”

As they reached the Cafeteria, the group instantly scattered. Their legs were already weak, and having to walk that extra distance was the final straw.

As the group dispersed, everyone collapsed onto their knees on the floor.

The chattering stopped immediately, and the room fell silent.

You Bai looked at Zhang Bei, who was calmly sipping soy milk one mouthful after another, then looked back at the people kneeling on the floor.

After a moment of silence, You Bai slowly squeezed out a sentence: “Greetings to the Old Buddha?”

Chef Li squinted his eyes, nearly bursting into laughter.

Zhang Bei rapped You Bai on the head with one hand. “What kind of nonsense are you watching all day?”

With You Bai’s antics breaking the tension, the group finally managed to pull themselves into chairs.

Chef Li knew it was probably impossible for them to stand up and get their own food. He filled the trays one by one and brought them to the table.

“Though I’m quite curious about what you all went through, you’d better just focus on eating.”

The doctor nodded. “Eat first. We’ll be fine after we eat.”

He sighed after speaking. Before the group could even get two bites in, a voice suddenly came from the entrance.

“Oh, everyone’s here. Looks like I’m not late.”

The familiar voice made everyone turn their heads.

Li Yang’s stepping foot froze mid-air. “Everyone… what’s going on?”

Pairs of cold, icy eyes stared intently at Li Yang.

Gu Yue swallowed the bun in her mouth. “Everyone, I’m well-rested.”

“I’m rested too.”

“I feel like my body is in pretty good shape now.”

With a howl, Gu Yue was the first to strike, cutting off Li Yang as he tried to flee.

The doctor followed close behind. With a quick pull and a twist of one hand, Li Yang’s arm instantly lost all strength.

In that short span of time, Li Yang was already surrounded.

Zhang Bei and You Bai sat together, watching the farce while sipping their soy milk.

Among them, the doctor was the most ruthless. He knew exactly where to hit to cause the most pain without leaving a bruise.

Almost every one of Li Yang’s screams was thanks to the doctor.

The chaos lasted for a full two minutes before the group left a disheveled Li Yang behind and returned to their seats.

Gu Yue took a slow sip of soy milk. “Delicious.”

The doctor nodded and took a bite of a bun. “Thin skin, lots of filling. Satisfying!”

By now, Zhang Bei had finished his meal. He sat in his chair and wiped his mouth.

“Rest for a bit after you finish. We open at eight.”

“Yes, Boss!”

“Understood!”

Zhang Bei returned to the Toy House alone and looked at the pile of orange-yellow suits laid out on the floor.

After contemplating for a long while, he decided to place the large bag right next to the Giant Swing.

Having something like this could be considered a bit of psychological comfort for the tourists.

Time passed quickly, and it was soon eight o’clock-opening time for the Amusement Park. As usual, those standing at the front of the line were the regulars.

Zhang Bei glanced at the crowd. “The Giant Swing has been updated! If you want to play, hurry up and get in line!”

As soon as the words left his mouth, countless people rushed to queue up in front of the Giant Swing.

How could Qingqing miss out on a new project?

As expected, Qingqing was right there in the queue.

However, this time, Zhang Bei’s gaze was fixed on another man.

He was also a regular at the Amusement Park, though his situation was different from those in high-stress professions.
This man was named Gu Chen, and he made a living writing horror novels. In his own words, spending one round at the Boss’s place provided more inspiration than sitting around thinking for an entire day.

The Giant Swing could accommodate fifty tourists at a time, which was only half the capacity of the Drop Tower.

As Gu Chen pulled on the yellow safety suit, he couldn’t help but grumble, “This ride doesn’t even involve water. What’s the point of wearing this?”

Despite his complaining, he still took his seat. Once all fifty people were buckled in, the Giant Swing began to operate.

Under the influence of gravitational acceleration, Gu Chen’s eyes gradually filled with excitement. Compared to the Drop Tower, this Giant Swing felt much more humane. He figured the Boss probably felt there were already enough terrifying attractions, so he’d provided the Giant Swing as a way to soothe the visitors’ nerves.

As the Giant Swing’s speed increased, the five-minute mark approached. Suddenly, a mechanical clicking sound rang out. Gu Chen looked up.

“Holy crap, it’s a Transformer!”

At the current speed, he didn’t even have time to complain. He hurriedly grabbed his safety harness and pressed his body tightly against the seat. Watching the Giant Swing finish its transformation, Gu Chen breathed a sigh of relief. This height wasn’t too bad; after being ravaged by the Drop Tower, a mere fifty meters or so wasn’t enough to scare him.

*Click.* Another mechanical sound echoed.

Gu Qing’s expression froze. The transformation wasn’t over?

This time, however, the Giant Swing gave him no time to prepare. In the blink of an eye, the ground shrank away. From Gu Qing’s position, he could just see the Drop Tower rising to its peak. From up here, the huddled heads of the people below were clearly visible.

One hundred meters above the ground, Gu Chen suddenly understood the purpose of the protective suit. If a person fell while wearing this, they wouldn’t shatter into pieces, making it much easier to collect the body.

Ten minutes passed quietly. Zhang Bei stood in front of the Giant Swing, waiting for the machinery to slow down. As two employees unbuckled the safety harnesses, an even more spectacular scene unfolded before his eyes.

Fifty people were kneeling in a perfectly neat row. From a distance, it looked as if some sort of cult ritual was being performed.

Zhang Bei’s lip twitched, but he still helped the two employees pull the tourists up. As for our streamer, Qingqing, although she was kneeling on the ground, she had long since fainted.

The doctor remained calm, quietly checking each tourist and loading them onto gurneys. Having endured Zhang Bei’s havoc, the doctor had already realized the true meaning of life.

Looking at the fifteen people neatly passed out across three gurneys, the doctor took a deep breath. *I can’t get angry, I can’t lose my temper. What if the Boss makes me go on a ride?*

That was right-the true meaning the doctor had realized was that one must never provoke the Boss; everything had to be done with survival as the top priority.

However, he couldn’t help the look in his eyes.

Zhang Bei shivered as he met the doctor’s gaze, which was filled with a mix of resentment, bashfulness, and dread. *I didn’t scare the doctor into having some kind of mental breakdown today, did I?*

Emergency doctors like this were hard to find. Just as Zhang Bei was about to advise the doctor to go get a check-up at the hospital, You Bai’s urgent voice reached his ears.

“Boss, this is bad! Another small amusement park has opened in Dingyang City!”

Zhang Bei frowned and took the phone You Bai handed over.

[Fantasy Amusement Park is about to open! Come experience the joy of childhood!]

Zhang Bei skimmed through the details. “Don’t worry. It’ll be closed within two days.”

“Huh? Why?”

Zhang Bei maintained a mysterious smile and didn’t explain. He watched You Bai leave, then rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
