Chapter 36
Chapter 36
The number of signatures on Heizi’s joint petition eventually surpassed five million.
Faced with a demand from over five million people, it was impossible for the United Nations to ignore the matter.
By now, the truth had become quite clear.
Following investigations from multiple parties, it was confirmed that the referee at the time had indeed engaged in a transaction with the athlete. Since they were from the same country, such a deal was easy to uncover once an investigation was launched.
The next morning, Zhang Bei sat in the Toy House, squinting as he scrolled through his Emotional Value.
After half a month of accumulation, his Emotional Value had reached over fifty thousand.
This amount was enough to unlock some large-scale projects.
However, what made Zhang Bei hesitate was his current staff. He had always been short-handed. Now that the incident was over, it wouldn’t be long before the entire amusement park returned to its former glory. Opening a new project with his current team would make it impossible to keep up with the workload.
After pondering for a long while, Zhang Bei fixed his gaze on an existing attraction: the Giant Swing.
If he wasn’t going to launch a new project, this was the only one suitable for an immediate upgrade.
After more deliberation, Zhang Bei took out a pen and paper and began to draft a design.
He had just sketched out an outline when You Bai’s voice rang in his ear.
“Good morning, Boss!”
Zhang Bei looked up slightly. “Good morning!”
As the employees began their shifts, the amusement park started to bustle with activity.
After breakfast, everyone was busy wiping down the facilities, preparing themselves for a tough battle ahead.
While Zhang Bei had been giving his statement yesterday, letters of apology were being posted one after another on Weibo.
The amusement park’s reputation flipped in an instant, with countless people leaving comments saying they wanted to come for a visit.
When eight o’clock arrived, the gates of the Amusement Park swung open.
A queue that stretched all the way down the street appeared before them.
Zhang Bei glanced out from the Toy House, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
Most of the visitors in the first wave were familiar faces. Since the Toy House was located right by the entrance, Zhang Bei was the first person they saw upon entering.
The first to walk up was a man. “Congratulations, Boss!”
The man’s name was Gong Ming, a corporate salesman. Since the day Zhang Bei’s amusement park opened, he had made it a point to come and play every week. In his words, it was about ‘reliving his childhood.’
However, Li Yang had secretly complained that he didn’t know whose childhood was so intense it rivaled a Syrian battlefield.
Gong Ming looked down at the blueprints in Zhang Bei’s hands. “What are you designing, Boss?”
“The Giant Swing. I’ll be updating it over the next couple of days.”
Gong Ming’s eyes lit up at the news. “Then I definitely have to come play!”
“Oh? Is there a new project?”
The speaker was Qingqing. She was currently holding up a camera, filming the grand scene at the amusement park.
“Soon. Construction starts tonight, so you can play tomorrow.”
“Then I’m coming back tomorrow!”
“Me too!”
“Yeah, yeah, count me in!”
Those crowding around Zhang Bei were all regulars and familiar acquaintances. Hearing that the Giant Swing was about to be updated piqued everyone’s interest; even if they didn’t ride it themselves, they wanted to watch others get scared witless.
And the tourists today certainly did not disappoint Zhang Bei. Starting from the very first group, the entire amusement park remained at maximum capacity with no sign of slowing down.
Li Yang made trip after trip, pushing a small cart to deliver fainted tourists to the Morgue.
The doctor was also run off his feet, performing check-ups one by one.
The carts in the amusement park were no longer the wooden flatbeds from before. They were now specially designed by Zhang Bei to allow tourists to lie down more comfortably. He had even added a specific compartment for storing glasses, which served to prevent a repeat of the previous misunderstanding where he was pinned to the ground by the police.
Zhang Bei spent the entire morning in the Toy House before finally finishing the blueprints for the Giant Swing.
In essence, the Giant Swing and the Drop Tower overlapped slightly in function.
Both relied on instantaneous acceleration to trigger a massive adrenaline rush.
To ensure the two attractions didn’t feel too repetitive, Zhang Bei made a few adjustments to the design.
Holding the blueprints in his hand, Zhang Bei immersed his consciousness into the System.
[Giant Swing: Construction cost 15,000.]
Yes, you read that right. Compared to the price of the Drop Tower, the cost of the Giant Swing had doubled.
According to the System, a large portion of this cost was used to mask the project’s existence in reality.
Did construction crews work for free?
Did money laundering and financial paper trails not cost anything?
All of that was provided for free, so what was wrong with charging a little extra Emotional Value?
The day’s business ended amidst Li Yang’s miserable wails.
Li Yang was indeed exhausted today. Not only did he have to manage the Drop Tower, but he also had to help transport tourists over at the Bumper Cars.
Although the Bumper Cars weren’t particularly terrifying, there were always a few newcomers who managed to faint on them.
Zhang Bei sat on a chair in the Cafeteria, looking at Li Yang, who was sprawled out half-dead beside him.
“Get up. It’s time to eat!”
“Boss, I’m so tired… I can’t get up without a reward.”
Zhang Bei lowered his head and thought for a moment. “There’s a bonus. And as an extra reward, I’ll give you the right to beta-test a new attraction.”
Li Yang’s expression froze. “Boss, I’ll take the bonus, but give the beta-test to the doctor.”
Zhang Bei turned to look at the doctor. “No need. The doctor gets a bonus too. You’ll both try the new attraction together.”
The doctor’s expression turned solemn. “Boss, I’m a selfless person. I don’t need any rewards.”
“No. I’m the boss, and what I say goes!”
With that, Zhang Bei looked at the rest of the staff around them. “Everyone is the same. You all get a bonus and a chance to test the new attraction.”
Chef Li stood in the kitchen, his face behind his mask devoid of any expression.
In reality, Chef Li was laughing his head off inside.
Serves you right!
You just had to open your big mouth, kid. Now none of us can escape, can we?
However, as a boss who cared for his employees, how could Zhang Bei forget the kitchen’s contributions?
The kitchen staff hadn’t rested all day; the demand for plum juice and snacks had been nearly impossible to keep up with.
“Chef Li, that goes for you and your team too. Everyone will play together tomorrow morning. It’ll be more lively that way.”
Chef Li’s gaze turned icy as he glared at Li Yang.
He was just minding his own business watching the drama, yet he’d been dragged into it. It was all this kid’s fault for talking too much.
Pairs of eyes filled with cold light fixed on Li Yang, looking as if they wanted to swallow him alive.
Sitting in his chair, Li Yang swallowed hard, his throat tight with nerves.
It was over. The relationships he’d worked so hard to build had shattered again.
This sense of déjà vu sent a chill down his spine.
“Woof!”
A comforting bark came from the doorway.
Digua waddled in from outside. Or more accurately, Digua rolled in.
Zhang Bei didn’t keep Digua on a leash. The dog was very well-behaved and never bit anyone.
Whenever he saw tourists, he would roll over and show his belly to act cute.
In just over half a month, Digua had completely transformed into a ball.
The endless treats from tourists had caused Digua to lose his way.
Now, countless young women would bring canned meat specifically for Digua on their way to the park.
Zhang Bei disparagingly dodged Digua’s tongue and lowered his head to bite into a rib.
He was clearly very handsome too, so why didn’t any girls come to feed him?
Dinner ended, and Chef Li finished tidying the kitchen before walking out of the Amusement Park gates with everyone else.
Zhang Bei waved goodbye to them, then narrowed his eyes as he looked toward the site of the Giant Swing.
