Chapter 27

The group made their way to the Cafeteria, where many employees had already gathered for lunch.

While the lunch was as hearty as ever, it was a bit simpler than the usual fare.

The newcomers were slightly shocked as they took in the Cafeteria.

When You Bai had mentioned there was a Ski Resort here, they hadn’t quite believed it.

They hadn’t expected that while this Amusement Park didn’t have many attractions yet, its foot traffic was anything but small.

Based on the current number of tourists, it was already comparable to some major scenic spots.

Meanwhile, in the Morgue, Qingqing slowly opened her eyes.

The sunlight was piercing, and its warmth on her face felt slightly hot.

Her phone, resting beside her, was still running the Live Stream.

Qingqing stared blankly for a full minute before everything came rushing back to her.

Logically, a Live Stream with no host that was only filming the sun shouldn’t have many viewers.

However, the moment Qingqing picked up her phone, the situation surpassed her wildest expectations.

Compared to before she fainted, the number of people in the Live Stream had more than doubled.

Orange Coast: [I’m new here. Is this the streamer who got scared unconscious on camera?]

Meatball: [Also new, same question. Is this the star of the trending search?]

Little Bear: [Found the source! Is the streamer still out cold?]

Looking at the screen full of comments, every single one was a reminder that she was trending.

She hastily pulled out her second phone and tapped on the search bar.

The very first line was a glaring headline:

[SHOCKING! Female streamer scared unconscious on the spot in a Maze!]

With a darkened expression, she clicked on it, and a video loading frame appeared.

In the video, some internet hotshot had edited together a compilation of all the expressions Qingqing had made inside the Maze.

The closing shot was the exact moment Qingqing’s eyes rolled back as she passed out.

Watching the video, Qingqing ground her teeth. “Tell me… which one of you did this!”

In the afternoon, the three new employees followed Zhang Bei to familiarize themselves with the operations of the Underground Maze.

This mainly involved the various hidden doors in the Employee Passage and the protocol for transporting unconscious tourists.

As closing time approached, the Underground Maze truly reached its capacity of a thousand people.

Zhang Bei’s design had yielded brilliant results; a total of over three hundred and fifty people had been sent to the Morgue after fainting.

After closing the gates of the Amusement Park, Zhang Bei took a sip of sour plum soup.

With the Underground Maze operational, the congestion at the Ski Resort had finally been relieved.

Most of the excess tourists were swallowed up by the Maze.

After the Maze ran for an afternoon, another queue-related task in the System was completed.

The new reward was a Dollhouse, used for selling dolls.

However, explaining how this building suddenly appeared to his employees was going to be a headache.

He could explain away facility upgrades as renovations, since overnight renovations weren’t that unusual.

But he couldn’t exactly claim that a proper building had been constructed out of thin air in a single night, could he?

Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but grumble to the System in his mind.

Other people’s Systems-forget building things-could pull out mystical cultivation techniques without any fuss.

Why did he have to be so secretive and cloak-and-dagger just to take something out?

Other Systems allowed their hosts to fly through the sky or bring the dead back to life.

This crappy System had no features at all and was stingy to boot.

As if hearing Zhang Bei’s complaints, the System’s voice rang out.

[Detection: Amusement Park has met the requirements for Phase One. Would you like to proceed with a System upgrade?]

Hearing the voice in his head, Zhang Bei paused in his tracks.

Leaning against a wall, he closed his eyes slightly.

This time, the System screen didn’t show the shop; instead, two buttons appeared.
[Confirm] [Yes]

Zhang Bei’s mouth twitched. Was there even a point in giving him a choice?

Couldn’t you just upgrade directly?

With a mind full of complaints, he clicked confirm.

[System upgrading. Estimated time: three hours.]

Hearing the voice echoing in his mind, Zhang Bei opened his eyes and headed toward the Cafeteria.

Digua was sprawled out by the Cafeteria entrance. The moment he saw Zhang Bei, he lunged forward.

Zhang Bei dodged Digua’s tongue with a look of disgust, then pressed the dog’s head down to check the festering spots on his body.

Though they hadn’t healed yet, the application of medicine had stopped the wounds from spreading further.

“Come on, let’s go eat.”

Digua shook his head and followed behind Zhang Bei.

Man and dog entered the Cafeteria, where most of the employees were already seated with their trays, eating.

Zhang Bei picked out two random dishes and sat down next to the doctor.

“How are the tourists reacting?”

The doctor took a bite of a rib, and his face instantly darkened a shade.

“How else? They’re all suffering from extreme shock. They’ll be fine after a few days of rest.”

Seeing Zhang Bei’s thoughtful expression, the doctor frowned.

“Boss, can’t we just be normal, like the attractions in other amusement parks?”

Zhang Bei wiped the corner of his mouth. “What are you talking about? How are our attractions not normal?”

“Don’t you have any idea whether they’re normal or not, Boss?”

The doctor had been to other amusement parks before; he had never seen anyone faint from fright, no matter how thrilling the ride.

But here, anything was possible.

Zhang Bei pondered for a moment. “You’re right. After all, there are still so many people who haven’t fainted.”

Seeing that Zhang Bei seemed ready to ramp up the difficulty, cold sweat immediately broke out on the doctor’s forehead.

“Boss, don’t! I was just joking.”

“Didn’t you say the Amusement Park’s attractions weren’t good enough? I’ll put more effort into the designs.”

“I didn’t! That’s not what I meant! Don’t talk nonsense!”

The doctor felt bitter. If Zhang Bei really increased the difficulty again, the tourists who found out the truth would probably try to kill him first.

Right now, Zhang Bei was still taking the heat in the front, but if it were ever his turn…

He’d probably have to hire bodyguards just to leave work to avoid being jumped in an alley.

As night fell completely, Zhang Bei leaned back on his bed, his consciousness sinking into the System.

The upgraded System interface looked a bit sleeker.

Of course, the most significant update was the Mall.

A series of new items had been added to the Mall. Aside from the original facilities, the biggest change was the inclusion of certain technologies.

These items were listed on a separate sub-page: the Future Mall.

Naturally, the prices were definitely not something the current Zhang Bei could afford.

Time drifted by until the next morning. When the staff arrived for work, they immediately noticed an area near the main gate cordoned off with black cloth.

From time to time, two workers would emerge from behind the black cloth, grab some materials, and duck back inside.

Li Yang quietly leaned in to take a peek. The workers were laying a foundation, seemingly building a small structure.

Seeing Zhang Bei nearby, he hurried over. “Boss, what’s going on here?”

Zhang Bei glanced at the black cloth to ensure there were no gaps before speaking. “Building a small shack to sell some things.”

This was the part of the System Zhang Bei had always complained about, but now there was finally a solution.

The System would hire a construction crew to build what was needed.

This was merely a front to keep up appearances; in essence, the final result would still rely on the System’s black light technology.

“Boss, are we finally going to have souvenirs?”

Countless couples were showing affection on the Ferris Wheel.

Zhang Bei hummed a little tune and pressed the red button.
