Chapter 23
Since the Referee Panel decided that You Bai had committed a foul, that only proves there must be something wrong with the official footage of the match.
To prove You Bai’s innocence, they would have to look for unofficial footage.
That meant searching for videos shot by audience members in the stands.
It had already been almost half a year, and finding those videos was no easy task.
However, the power of netizens is strong. Even with all sorts of inconveniences, within two hours a large number of videos were found.
In a WeChat group called “Save the Young Lady,” the experts broke down the video files frame by frame.
Everyone was searching these images for evidence.
Back at the amusement park, Tang Dou had put on her Coach Goggles and was focused on a speed run with You Bai.
She still lost, but her smile was impossible to hide.
You Bai patted the snow from her body. “At your current speed, you could compete in a match.”
Tang Dou scratched her head in frustration. “I didn’t expect to break through this time. It must have been all the pressure from the last round.”
The whole morning passed in a flash. Zhang Bei saw off the superstar streamer and turned back to the ski resort.
Hearing the nearby wailing and cries for help, he poured himself another cup of hot tea.
Suddenly, a crisp dog bark rang out.
“Woof!”
Zhang Bei’s hand, still holding the tea, paused slightly. Then he turned his head.
In his line of sight was a big dog, completely covered in mud. Its fur was matted together so much that its breed was unrecognizable.
Still, judging by its large frame, even though it was now just skin and bones.
Zhang Bei glanced at the snacks on the table and casually picked up a piece of dried sweet potato.
“Want to eat?”
“Woof!”
“Then shouldn’t you try to please me?”
“Woof, woof woof!”
“If you don’t please me, you won’t get any!”
“It may not be a human, but you really are a dog!”
A voice came from nearby. Zhang Bei tossed the dried sweet potato to the ground.
It was Heizi, whom he hadn’t seen in days.
“What brings you here?”
Heizi pointed at You Bai, who was working hard on the other side. “For her.”
Zhang Bei immediately looked wary. “What are you planning? Don’t mess with my employee.”
Heizi’s face froze. “Am I that kind of person?!”
Zhang Bei’s look was serious. “In ninth grade, you were trapped at home for half a month by three girls.”
Seeing Heizi’s stiff face, Zhang Bei didn’t stop.
“In tenth grade, your three girlfriends cornered you in the boys’ restroom.”
“In eleventh grade, the new English teacher left for no reason-probably to go work for your family business, right?”
Heizi took a deep breath. “Enough. This time I really have business!”
As he spoke, Heizi pulled out his phone, and on the screen was a group chat in the middle of a meme battle.
The main character of the memes was Tang Dou.
“I’m a fan of hers too. We’ve found evidence of the original misjudgment.”
Heizi then explained the whole story to Zhang Bei.
After listening, Zhang Bei frowned. “So, what do you want to do?”
A mysterious smile flashed across Heizi’s face. “What do you think about suing the Korean referee panel?”
Zhang Bei’s mouth twitched. “You’re going that far?”
Heizi brushed the snow from himself. “There’s a good chance with this, but we need to use the name of your amusement park.”
As soon as he finished speaking, a mechanical voice from the System sounded in Zhang Bei’s mind.
[Injustice: As an amusement park employee, you can’t keep working while wronged. Clear You Bai’s name.]
A mission?
After reading the mission carefully, Zhang Bei turned to Heizi. “So, what’s your plan?”
Heizi squinted his eyes. “Sue them in the name of your Amusement Park, take it to the international court.”
“Alright, what do you need me to do?”
A smile spread across Heizi’s face. “Nothing at all. This time, I’m determined to make the Bangzi regret it.”
Zhang Bei waved his hand. “Then you handle it. Just let me know if you need anything from me.”
With that, he picked up another piece of dried sweet potato and tossed it to the ground.
Heizi’s gaze shifted to the dog.
He stared for a moment. “This one should be a Golden Retriever, but the bloodline isn’t pure.”
Zhang Bei paused, dried sweet potato in hand. “It’s in this state and you can still tell?”
Heizi nodded. “You can tell from the bone structure and fur color. It was probably abandoned because of a skin disease.”
Zhang Bei looked at the skinny, bony dog. “So how did it end up here?”
“You want to keep it?”
Zhang Bei hesitated. “Is it a hassle?”
Heizi thought for a moment. “Not really a hassle, just that treating its illness will cost a bit.”
The dog lying on the ground seemed to understand that its fate was being decided.
It lay down completely, exposing its belly.
Zhang Bei sighed. “Alright, a guest is a guest. I’ll give you a bath first.”
Saying this, Zhang Bei picked up the big dog and walked toward the back.
Heizi shivered at the occasional screams coming from the Ski Resort.
He hurried to catch up with Zhang Bei.
Giving a dog a bath is a different kind of trouble for different people-and different dogs.
But for Zhang Bei, giving a dog a bath for the first time in his life, he didn’t feel troubled at all.
This Golden Retriever was very well-behaved, letting Zhang Bei’s big hands rub all over its body.
In just over ten minutes, its true appearance was revealed.
Just as Heizi had said, it had a skin disease.
And its fur was a mix of colors, definitely not a pure breed.
After drying its body, Zhang Bei turned to Heizi. “Do you know any reliable Pet Hospital?”
Heizi nodded. “Take my car, I’ll bring you there.”
Zhang Bei sat in the back seat, one hand pressing down on the dog’s head.
The Golden Retriever quietly lay at his feet, occasionally looking up at him.
Zhang Bei was silent for a long time. “How about calling it Digua?”
“What?”
“Its name.”
Heizi gradually sped up a little. “As long as you’re happy.”
Heizi had long since given up hope on Zhang Bei’s naming skills.
Not naming it Da Huang was already an extraordinary performance.
Over the years, countless strange names had come from Zhang Bei.
Zhang Bei spent almost the entire afternoon at the Pet Hospital.
By the time he returned to the Amusement Park, it was nearly closing time.
Zhang Bei brought Digua into the Cafeteria.
Chef Li was preparing dinner and immediately noticed the dog with medicine applied to its fur.
“Boss, you got a dog?”
“Picked it up.”
“So you’re-?”
“Keeping it at the Amusement Park. No need to hire a security guard anymore.”
Hearing Zhang Bei’s words, Chef Li looked down at the dog again.
He casually tossed out a piece of rib.
Digua looked at Zhang Bei, then at the rib on the ground.
Its two paws scratched anxiously at the floor.
Zhang Bei patted his forehead. “If you want to eat, just eat. What are you looking at me for?”
With the order given, Digua immediately bit into the rib.
The Amusement Park soon reached closing time, and the employees turned off the facilities and came inside.
Li Yang had the day off, so the first to enter the Cafeteria was the Ski Resort’s Coaching Team.
The freshly washed Golden Retriever still looked rather impressive, instantly attracting the attention of the girls.
