Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Chen Zhinan remained silent for a few seconds before taking the milk tea from my hands with a cold expression.
“Regardless of why she returned to the Debate Club, there’s no reason to make a girl carry twenty-one cups of milk tea by herself.”
“Wait.” I pressed my hand against his, pulled a cup of milk tea out of the delivery bag, and waved it at Pei Yi with a smile.
“Pei Yi, your favorite-mint milk green tea.”
Over the past two years, through freezing winters and scorching summers, I had run errands countless times to buy him this specific drink.
He had forbidden me from ordering delivery, lounging with his legs crossed as he ordered me around: “A delivery guy could never be as fast as you.”
Now, he sneered at me in mockery. “Are you sick in the head? Do you think I’m so damn desperate that I’d drink someone else’s tea?”
The next second, the milk tea splashed across his face, leaving him unable to open his eyes.
Liquid dripped from his hair, his face, and his clothes.
He wiped his face and stared at me in disbelief.
I smiled sweetly. “This cup of mint milk green tea that your precious Xu Yan bought is my breakup gift to you. Do you like it?”
I turned to look at the stunned Xu Yan.
“I’ll pay you back for this cup. Furthermore, my only purpose in returning to the Debate Club is to debate.”
Without giving Pei Yi another glance, I turned to grab the remaining milk tea left at the school gate, but he suddenly grabbed me.
His eyes were red with rage.
“I’m warning you for the last time-stop trying to act like her!”
He squeezed my wrist so hard it felt like it might shatter. “I don’t hit women, but if there’s a next time, I’m not sure I’ll be able to control myself.”
I kicked Pei Yi squarely in the chest. “Too bad. I specialize in hitting scumbags like you.”
I put my full strength into the kick, and he doubled over, clutching his chest in pain.
I looked down at him, my eyes cold. “I’m also warning you for the last time: I am not imitating anyone.”
Then, I furrowed my brows in disgust.
“It’s been four years. How have you not improved at fighting even a little bit?”
He looked up as if he’d been electrocuted, his eyes gradually reddening.
He looked exactly as he did the first time I met him.
My first encounter with Pei Yi wasn’t in college, but during our second year of high school.
It was after evening self-study.
He had been cornered in an alleyway by several guys from another school. It was five against one, and he was losing ground.
I stepped in to help.
After the group scattered, he collapsed onto the ground with a heavy thud, his body looking like it was falling apart.
“Hey.”
He suddenly called out to me as I turned to leave.
I looked back.
He was sitting under the dim yellow glow of a streetlamp, looking up at me. His watery eyes stared at me for a long time.
“I’ll remember you,”
he said.

When the chandelier came crashing down, Pei Yi pushed me toward death to protect another woman.
As I lay there, blood streaming from my head, I was so happy I could have bashed my skull...
