Chapter 1
“Kiss her! Kiss her!”
Amidst the rowdy cheering, my face flushed red.
But I knew Pei Yi wouldn’t kiss me.
He loathed me to the core.
Even though we were boyfriend and girlfriend, every time he accidentally brushed against me, he looked as disgusted as if he had swallowed a fly.
Holding a glass of wine, Pei Yi was hidden in the shadows, his expression unreadable.
“If you don’t kiss her, you have to down a penalty drink!”
He had already drunk too much tonight; any more and his stomach would start acting up.
Despite his obvious reluctance, he slowly leaned in.
The scent of a man washed over me, and I nervously closed my eyes.
This was my first kiss.
The next second, a glass of wine was splashed over me, making it impossible to open my eyes.
Liquid streamed down my face; I couldn’t tell if it was wine or tears.
“Do you want to kiss me that badly?”
He raised a glass, drained it in one gulp, and curled his lips in a mocking sneer.
“I’d rather drink myself to death right here than touch you.”
The wine seeped into my collar, damp and sticky.
I stood up and walked toward the door.
He spoke coldly, “If you dare leave, we’re over.”
I desperately wanted to slap him ten times across the face before slamming the door behind me.
But I still obediently walked back.
Because ever since I woke up from a high fever two years ago, I could no longer control my own body.
The person currently inhabiting my body was someone else.
She had to successfully ‘woo’ Pei Yi, or else she would be erased.
Over the past two years, she had used my body to become his most devoted lapdog.
She fought and smoked for him, and let my studies go to ruin.
In the middle of the night, a single phone call from him would send her to a bar to intercept drinks for him, even while on her period.
While holding another woman, he would look askance at me as I was being forced to drink heavily and remark, “Tsk, what a good dog.”
A server happened to walk in to deliver food, passing right by my side.
At that moment, the chandelier overhead came crashing down.
“Song Huai!”
Pei Yi rushed toward where we were standing.
Was he… going to save me?
My heart pounded so hard it nearly leaped out of my chest.
The next second, he lunged toward the server with lightning speed, using his own body to shield her firmly.
*Crash-*
The massive light fixture landed squarely on me.
The room erupted in gasps.
Pain radiated through me instantly, and the metallic scent of blood surged up.
He stood up and smiled at me. “My girlfriend is so kindhearted; I’m sure she wanted to give the chance of being saved to someone else.”
He emphasized the word “girlfriend” with particular venom.
All just to humiliate me.
He would rather save a total stranger than save me.
Me, his girlfriend in name only.
