Chapter 8
At 12:00 sharp, I called home and said I’d run into some small-time thugs at school. My mom immediately sent two bodyguards over.
All those school management rules and curfews only apply to ordinary students. For those with some background, they’re basically meaningless.
At 12:30, I arrived at the spot early with the two bodyguards and hid.
At 12:50, the small-time thugs showed up early – the bait had worked.
The school’s troublemakers were organized into gangs. Worried they wouldn’t come, I told them that a lower-year gang had looked down on them and challenged them to a fight.
At 1:10, the small-time thugs started cursing, wondering if they’d been tricked.
They were about to leave, so I had no choice but to signal the two bodyguards behind me to get ready and step out with me.
Luckily, I had made a backup plan.
Just as I was straightening my clothes and about to step out, another group arrived in force.
The boy at the front was tall and long-legged, with an aggressively striking face – sharp, cold features and a hint of irritation between his brows.
“Lu Yici? Why is it you? You set up this fight?”
The boy was clearly impatient. “Cut the crap. If we’re fighting, let’s get it over with.”
As soon as he raised his hand, the two groups clashed.
I watched from not far away, and when the fight seemed about even, I finally showed up with my two bodyguards.
Scarface was being pinned to the ground by two boys, and Lu Yici bent down with one hand in his pocket, patted Scarface’s face, and said coolly, “There’s a math test this afternoon. Don’t cause trouble.”
Scarface was so scared he kept saying yes.
“Also,” Lu Yici paused, thought for a moment, then added, “she’s my deskmate. Don’t mess with her. Got it?”
“Got it, got it!”
As he stood up and turned around, Lu Yici met my gaze.
I spoke up first to explain, “I brought two bodyguards to back you up.”
“?”
He looked at the two strong bodyguards behind me, then back at me.
After a brief silence, he fired off three rapid-fire questions: “So where were you just now? Hiding in the back? You weren’t going to join in?”
I answered matter-of-factly, “I figured I didn’t need to be a liability yet.”
“…”

I transmigrated into a novel, but there was no such character as me in the story.
For seventeen years, I lived as a wealthy and beautiful heiress in the book.
