After much consideration, I decided to help Yi Chao settle his debts all at once.

Otherwise, he’d have to stay up late studying and work part-time to pay off what he owes-how would he ever have time for romance?

He probably didn’t clear last month’s debt by the end of the month, so those people will definitely come looking for him again at the start of this month.

As long as I follow him every day, I’m bound to catch them sooner or later.

The results of the entrance exam came out quickly, and unsurprisingly, Yi Chao was still ranked first in the whole school.

Song Qingqing missed the exam, so she didn’t tie for first place with Yi Chao as she did in the original storyline.

The girl who was knocked down in the cafeteria that day was her. She spent the afternoon lying in the School Doctor’s office, and the next day, she limped her way to the exam.

It was Xie Yang who carried her to the School Doctor’s office.

“Why was it you who carried her? Weren’t there teachers nearby?” I asked him.

Xie Yang shrugged and smiled, “I’m too tall, so the teacher spotted me right away.”

Although this new development caught me off guard, thankfully it didn’t lead to any irreparable consequences. In fact, it gave the female lead and the second male lead more chances to interact.

Song Qingqing’s leg was scalded, so now she needs help going up and down stairs, getting meals, and fetching water.

She just transferred here and hasn’t made any friends yet, so naturally, these tasks fell to Yi Chao.

Every noon, I see Yi Chao carrying a pink-and-white lunchbox to get food, then hurrying back while most people are still eating in the cafeteria. The two of them went from barely speaking to now exchanging a few brief words.

In my eyes, that’s already a big step forward.

During break, the class rep handed out math papers and found a sheet of paper stuck to the back of mine.

On it, someone had analyzed the reasons for my mistakes, pointed out issues and details I needed to pay attention to, and clearly laid out the correct problem-solving approach and methods.

For a few questions, they even gave me similar practice problems.

Even though the writing was densely packed and a bit cramped, the neat handwriting made it pleasing to look at.

I glanced at it casually and stuffed it back into my drawer.

Yi Chao is the math class rep, so my math homework has basically been going through him lately.

Every assignment I get back has extra comments in red pen.

He’s thorough and dedicated.

Even though I haven’t agreed to the tutoring yet.

While waiting for my answer, he quietly does all this, trying hard to show his worth.

I got up and walked outside.

In the corridor, the silent boy was bent over slightly, hands resting on the railing, his expression calm.

His gaze was fixed somewhere downstairs, as if deep in thought, or maybe just spacing out.

“I’ve made up my mind,” I said.

He turned his head, his fingers unconsciously tightening on the railing.

I handed back the scrap paper he’d given me at the exam room door last time, apologizing a little, “I don’t think I want tutoring.”

The midday sun was dazzling. I turned and went back to the classroom.

He didn’t come back in until the bell rang, his face expressionless, the messy hair over his eyes hiding his emotions.

He was clutching the crumpled paper, veins standing out faintly on the back of his hand.

He sat down.

I transmigrated into a novel, but there was no such character as me in the story.

For seventeen years, I lived as a wealthy and beautiful heiress in the book.

Just when I was about to...
