At night, I stayed alone in the guest room.

I coughed continuously throughout the night.

The soundproofing in Chi Zhou’s house is excellent; he couldn’t hear a thing.

But I could vaguely hear Green Tea scratching at the door.

It was almost dawn when I finally drifted off to sleep.

I dreamed of college military training. I fainted from heatstroke and fell backward into someone’s arms.

A lot of people were making a fuss.

I still remember his dry voice, brushing past my ear like the wind.

“He already has a girlfriend.”

But he still carried me on his back to the infirmary.

I whispered behind him, “Sorry, I must be heavy.”

“Not heavy at all.”

The dream ended abruptly.

I woke up crying.

If only time could stop at that moment.

My lungs hurt, my whole body hurt.

Early in the morning, I started making porridge again, as if nothing had happened last night.

Chi Zhou didn’t even look at me before heading out the door.

After taking my medicine, I put on an eye mask and curled up motionless on the sofa on the balcony.

Qiqi called me, asking what was going on between Chi Zhou and his ex. She said Chi Zhou went to the ex’s company today for business, bringing his ex along. If it hadn’t been such a big deal, she almost couldn’t resist going up and slapping him.

The autumn wind was chilly, rushing into my lungs, and I started coughing again.

I only heard Qiqi’s exasperated voice: “Can’t you just send that cat away? If you keep coughing like this, you’ll cough yourself to death sooner or later.”

I clutched my aching chest, trying hard to make my voice sound less awful.

“Qiqi, don’t worry. There’s no future for me and Chi Zhou, so even if he gets back together with his ex, I don’t care. Don’t cause trouble for him – if he takes away your job, I’d feel bad.”

As for Green Tea, it’s much cuter than Chi Zhou, so of course I won’t send it away.

“Huh? When did you get so clear-headed? Was it the eighteen years of wild herbs dug up by Wang Baochuan that woke you up?”

I smiled, “Stop talking nonsense. Go to work.”

“Alright! But you two aren’t divorced yet. If our friends find out, they’ll definitely laugh at you for being cheated on by that loser. Why not just get a divorce? They say it’s better to break ten temples than one marriage, but today I’m definitely breaking this marriage!”

“Okay.”
