The girl pouted and went to change her clothes.

I stood outside the door for a good while. It wasn’t until someone came out to answer a phone call that I was noticed.

“Sister-in-law? You’re here?”

“Jingsen is drunk. He was just mumbling your name a moment ago.”

I took a step back. “I won’t go in.”

“I wouldn’t want to interrupt him while he’s watching the dancing.”

The man looked a bit awkward and fell silent for a moment.

This was likely the first time I had ever shown any temper, which clearly caught him off guard.

As they all said, I was the well-known Good Girl of our social circle.

Fu Jingsen had been acting out quite ridiculously lately, and everyone around him had heard something about it.

Yet every single person, without exception, urged me to endure it.

“What man isn’t a bit fickle? At least Fu Jingsen is devoted to you.”

“The wedding is coming up soon. You have to look at the big picture and consider the reputation of both families!”

I found it laughable. Why was I, the victim, the one expected to protect the reputation of both families?

“Enjoy yourselves. I’m going home.”

“Sister-in-law, Jingsen is just using them to kill some time…”

“Don’t follow me.”

I blinked back tears and turned to walk away quickly.

However, just as I reached the elevator, someone blocked my path.

In the brief moment it took to wipe my eyes, I looked up at the man in front of me with a frown.

It was Chen Xu, a playboy with a terrible reputation in our circle.

He was wearing a black windbreaker and matching cargo pants, with a cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth.

The way he looked at me was utterly brazen.

In a place filled with the fragrance of perfume and the shimmer of formal wear, his outfit looked completely out of place.

I had heard many unsavory rumors about him.

Subconsciously, I took a wary step back to maintain my distance.

“Hey, Good Girl…”

Chen Xu took the cigarette out of his mouth and raised an eyebrow at me. “Do you dare to be rebellious for once?”
