Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Mom and I lived together, both of us desperately hoping for a peaceful life.
After thinking it over carefully, we realized that this “peaceful life” meant one without Dad, Grandma, Anxin, or even my uncle.
Mom transferred me to a new kindergarten. It wasn’t as prestigious as the old one, but it was closer to home, and the teachers were very gentle.
She worked incredibly hard.
She opened a design studio, and thanks to her talent, she began to make a name for herself in the industry.
However, she didn’t seem particularly happy.
That was because my uncle’s company was being targeted.
Song Mingze couldn’t hold out any longer, so he finally came to see Mom.
He leaned against his car, puffing on a cigarette. His hair was a mess, and he looked haggard and dejected; he had clearly been at his wits’ end lately.
When he saw Mom, his eyes brightened for a moment, but the light quickly faded.
“Yu Zhenting is targeting the company. We’ve lost several major contracts. You have shares in the business, so I’m here to discuss what we should do.”
“And what do you plan to do?” Mom asked.
My uncle remained silent, seemingly trying to summon his resolve.
“Go apologize to Yu Zhenting. A child can’t grow up without a father, right?”
Mom was stunned.
Tears welled up in her eyes, but she forced them back.
She reached out and slapped him across the face.
“Song Mingze, you disgust me!”
A Female Lead in a tragic novel really doesn’t know how to curse properly.
I filled a basin with water, shouted, “Mom, move!” and dumped it down from the balcony.
The water drenched my uncle from head to toe.
His expression turned dark, and he glared at me fiercely.
“Yu Pinlan, where are your manners?”
“You’re an outsider, it’s none of your business!”
“Get down here right now! I didn’t say anything when you bullied Yibao last time, but this time, I’m going to teach you a lesson.”
He tried to rush upstairs.
Mom reached out and blocked him.
“Song Mingze, don’t you dare. Do you think I don’t know what you’re planning? You’ve been secretly transferring assets, trying to kick me out of the company. When that didn’t work, you tried to find someone to quietly buy my shares. Are you planning to give my property to Anxin as a betrothal gift?”
I fell silent.
It turned out so much had happened behind my back.
Mom had been under so much pressure, yet she hadn’t said a word.
My uncle’s face turned ashen, and a flash of shame crossed his features.
It seemed he knew his actions were dishonorable.
He said coldly, “This is what we owe Anxin. I ruined her life, and you caused her heart condition to flare up, leaving her hospitalized for a long time. It’s not just your shares-I’m giving her a portion of mine as well. I didn’t want to tell you directly because I didn’t want to hurt you, but since you already know, there’s no point in hiding it. Song Wanqing, we owe Anxin, and we have to pay her back.”
“Are you insane? This is the only property Dad left us, something Mom and Dad worked themselves to the bone for! Besides, I don’t owe Anxin anything! I owe her nothing!”
Mom was livid.
She rarely lost her composure, but this time she was completely hysterical.
My uncle had crossed her final line.
My uncle let out a cold laugh.
“You’re still as unrepentant as ever. Do you dare to claim you didn’t force Anxin to go abroad back then? That you didn’t cause her to fall down the stairs and trigger her heart condition? That you didn’t instigate Yaya to bully Yibao to drive her out of the Yu Family? And her recent car accident-don’t tell me you weren’t the one behind that, too?”
Mom’s tears finally fell.
She pounded on my uncle’s chest, venting her rage.
“Song Mingze, are you an idiot? Don’t you know what kind of person I am? Yu Zhenting suspects me, and now even you? You’re my brother! Why would you believe another woman over your own sister? Just because she slept with you once…”
*Slap!*
Song Mingze struck Mom across the face.

Go, Yaya!
After Mom died, I began using the same manipulative tactics that the mistress once used to frame her, turning them against my father.
I watched as he was torn apart by public outcry. I...
