Chapter 9

When the company was finally on the right track, I stepped down from my position as general manager and opened my own studio.

Designing jewelry that I love, I’ve managed to achieve some modest success over the past two years.

Just as I parked my car in the studio’s underground garage, Jiang Yubai suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

His eyes were red, and his upper eyelids were still swollen.

“Sister…”

He called out to me, his voice much hoarser than before.

His eyes looked at me pitifully, like an abandoned puppy.

“What are you doing here?” I asked.

“You didn’t reply to my messages, and I didn’t dare to call you out of the blue. I could only wait for you here.”

He took a few steps forward and carefully tugged at my sleeve.

“Please don’t leave me. If I’ve done anything wrong, you can tell me. I’ll change, I promise.”

I started to feel irritated again, but beneath the irritation was a heartache I couldn’t ignore.

“Jiang Yubai, you need to understand. Our relationship is abnormal.

“When we part ways, we can’t even call it a breakup. It’s more like a termination. Do you understand?”

The color drained from Jiang Yubai’s face bit by bit.

He lowered his head and refused to speak, but his hand still stubbornly clung to my sleeve.

He held on very, very tightly.

I took a deep breath, and in the end, my heart softened.

“Xiao Bai, find a girl your own age and love her well.

“Go have a healthy relationship, one that can stand in the sunlight.”

Jiang Yubai sniffled and rejected my suggestion without hesitation.

“I only want you.”

So the two of us tugged back and forth in the underground garage for quite a while, and in the end, I still couldn’t win against him.

Oh well, he’s still young. Give him time, and eventually he’ll get tired of me.

Just like Lu Jingli-he used to love me so much he was willing to jump into a river for me, but now, hasn’t he already moved on to someone else?
