When I woke up the next day, Lu Jingli had already left for the company.

Aunt Li brought breakfast to the table. After hesitating for a moment, she asked, “Madam, did you have a quarrel with Sir? He didn’t seem to be in a good mood today.”

Aunt Li is good in every way, except that she’s a bit old-fashioned. I’ve told her many times that she can just call us by our names, but she insists on using these titles. She even told me that rules shouldn’t be broken.

Eventually, I just let her be.

I picked up an egg and tapped it twice on the table, shrugging indifferently.

“It’s probably that woman outside making trouble for him again.”

Meng Xingyue has been spoiled by Lu Jingli lately, and she’s gotten a bit too used to being favored. Last night probably wasn’t easy for Lu Jingli.

Aunt Li’s expression changed several times. “Madam, you can’t just let Sir go on like this. You’ve been married for so many years. It’s time to have a child.

“Maybe if you had a child, Sir would change his mind.”

How low must one stoop to try to tie down a man whose heart has changed with a child?

I shook my head. “That wouldn’t be fair to the child. Besides, I don’t want to win him back.”

When even threatening my own life couldn’t make him change his mind, I decided I didn’t want this man anymore.
