Chapter 1

Lu Jingli was sleeping in the study again tonight.

When I went in to bring him coffee, I happened to catch him handling documents while talking on the phone with the young girl he keeps outside.

His phone was on speaker, lying next to the computer.

The girl’s voice was sweet but a little petulant: “Why won’t you answer my video call? Are you with that old woman, afraid I’ll see you together?”

Lu Jingli coaxed her patiently: “What nonsense! I’m reviewing contracts. I’ll video you when I’m done. Be good.”

But the girl wouldn’t let it go: “Lu Jingli, don’t forget what you promised me-that you would never touch her again.”

“Alright, you little jealous thing.

“I’ve been sleeping in the study this whole time. You know that.”

Listening to the gentle way his tone softened without him noticing, I was momentarily dazed.

Once, when I used to act a little spoiled with him, he would coax me just like this, lowering himself to make me happy.

After all this time, he’s still the same Lu Jingli-once he likes someone, he’ll spoil them without limit.
