“Fu Xun’an, I hate you more than anyone else in the world.”
I woke up startled by those words countless nights.
Tong Yuen’s eyes, filled with pain and despair, would flash before me.
In a panic, I would hug my Little White Dog and listen to him tell me he loved me, over and over again.
I knew that no matter how difficult things were, they would pass.

My hand holding the wine glass tilted slightly, splashing liquid all over the man’s sleeve.

I forced a smile and pulled myself together.
