I recounted all of the above experiences to the police, one by one.
The police asked, “You were hiding in the Bathroom and heard him say, ‘Once I finish writing this scene, I’ll send you on your way.’ So do you know which script he was talking about?”
“I don’t know,” I replied. “Even though I lived with him for two months, he never told me what he was writing. He is an Eccentric Genius Writer, and he never shows anyone his work before it’s finished.”
The police said, “He said something like ‘send you on your way.’ Weren’t you scared?”
“I was a little scared at the time.”
“Then why didn’t you leave him afterward?”

The police looked at me with a hint of disgust.

I was stunned, tears falling.
“I saw it,” I whispered. “You guessed right. I saw the Secret Room.”
The police said, “Go on.”
I wiped away my tears. “But I must tell you, even if I reveal all this, I am innocent.”
