chapter 7
Seeing that I neither agreed nor disagreed, Driver Zhang chuckled and said, “I’m really not joking. It’s said that nine generations ago, the Cao Family was just a minor landlord.”
“But starting from that generation, the head of the Cao Family set a family rule of ‘doing one good deed a day,’ claiming it was to accumulate virtue and blessings for future descendants.”
“Who would’ve thought they got it right? From then on, the Cao Family prospered, thriving more and more, and even produced high-ranking officials two generations later.”
“As the saying goes, ‘Wealth doesn’t last beyond three generations,’ but the Cao Family is an exception. They’ve been wealthy for nine generations now!”
“And now, this ninth generation of the Cao Family is even more remarkable. Especially in the past ten years, they’ve soared to new heights. The Cao Family is no longer confined to Meicheng; the Cao Group is renowned both domestically and abroad!”
“This just goes to show that doing good deeds and accumulating virtue really works. The reason the Cao Family is so prosperous is because they’ve done so many good deeds, bringing blessings to their descendants. But doing good for nine generations is no easy feat-they deserve their good fortune.”
As he recounted the Cao Family’s rise, Driver Zhang couldn’t help but praise them repeatedly.
But to me, these words sounded extremely ironic.
That malicious Cao Family, considered a paragon of virtue?
Nine generations of good deeds? If I’m not mistaken, this is just a front the Cao Family uses to deceive others!
What truly brought the Cao Family prosperity was actually the Dragon-Locking Lair!
This Feng Shui treasure brought the Cao Family glory for nine generations.
Originally, ten years ago, the Cao Family should have suffered the backlash of the Dragon-Locking Lair, declining from prosperity and even facing the risk of extinction.
But after my grandfather defied fate and changed their destiny, not only did the Cao Family avoid decline, they became even more prosperous, reaching a new peak!
“Who designed this Cao Immortal Temple?”
I took a stroll around the temple and found that the Cao Immortal Temple was built with great care. The entire layout subtly aligned with the principles of Yin-Yang, the Eight Trigrams, and the Five Elements and Six Harmonies. It was clearly the work of a master.
“I heard it was designed personally by the Temple Master here. This Temple Master is quite something. The reason Cao Immortal Temple has so much incense and so many worshippers is largely thanks to the Temple Master,” Driver Zhang said.
“That impressive? What’s the background of this Temple Master?” I asked with interest.
“That, I’m not too sure about,” Driver Zhang shook his head with a smile. “The Temple Master keeps to himself and is very mysterious. I’ve been here several times, but never once have I seen him.”
“Well, maybe next time we’ll get a chance,” I said, changing the subject with a smile. “I heard the Cao Family’s Ancestral Grave is also on Green Dragon Mountain?”
“That’s right, that’s right. Quite a few people go there specifically to pay their respects, hoping to catch some of the Cao Family’s good fortune,” Driver Zhang said with a laugh.
“Is that so? Then let’s go and catch some luck ourselves,” I replied with a smile.
“Alright then.” Driver Zhang led me toward the back of the mountain.
After walking for more than half an hour, we saw an imposing large grave lying in the valley ahead.
Sure enough, quite a few people were there burning incense and making offerings. Some were even kneeling and kowtowing fervently. With such devotion, anyone who didn’t know better would think they were the Cao Family’s filial descendants.
There were four people standing in front of the grave. Driver Zhang said they were sent by the Cao Family to guard the Ancestral Grave, just in case anything happened.
“Let’s go. There’s nothing much to see.”
I took just one look and didn’t go any further.
Because this Cao Family Ancestral Grave was definitely fake, just another ruse to mislead outsiders.
The real Cao Family Ancestral Grave would never be revealed to outsiders.
“So where to now?” Driver Zhang asked, a bit puzzled.
I said we should wander around a bit more.
Driver Zhang accompanied me as we walked around the mountain for a while longer. Only when dusk fell did we descend and drive back to Meicheng.
Through the car window, I glanced at Green Dragon Mountain shrouded in darkness.
The root of the Cao Family’s prosperity lies in the Dragon-Locking Lair where their Ancestral Grave is located. If I want to bring about the Cao Family’s downfall, the most direct way is to destroy this Feng Shui Formation.
That would be cutting off the source.
That was my plan before coming here.
But after touring Green Dragon Mountain today, I realized this approach wouldn’t work.
To protect their lifeline, the Cao Family went to great lengths, mobilizing countless resources and manpower to build the massive Cao Immortal Temple on Green Dragon Mountain!
It’s not just a temple; it works with the terrain, connecting all the earth veins of Green Dragon Mountain, turning the entire mountain into a colossal Feng Shui Formation.
The Cao Immortal Temple is just one Formation Eye of this grand formation!
What an elaborate setup!
Trying to break this Feng Shui Formation with Feng Shui methods would be extremely difficult.
But that’s fine. If one path doesn’t work, I’ll take another.
Isn’t the Cao Family blessed with good Feng Shui, strong fortune, and talented people?
Then I’ll take down these so-called ‘great philanthropists’ one by one and see how long their luck lasts!
