Chapter 12
Chapter 12
I looked at the man standing before me.
He slowly merged with the memory of that long-ago afternoon.
The wind that day had brushed through the Boston ivy outside the wall, the leaves swaying gently with a soft, rustling sound.
I had pretended not to care, stealing a secret glance at him.
He didn’t know then, and he doesn’t know now.
In the time it took to lift my eyes, my heart had been captivated for eight long years.
And in the time it took to lift my eyes again, I admitted to myself that I never should have taken that glance.
I said, “We’re finished.
“Please be the one to tell your mother.”
In the deathly silence, Shen Sui’s face darkened.
Seeing no sign that I would take it back, the anger in his eyes surged, and his hands clenched tightly.
He looked down at me, his tone indifferent.
“Think carefully. Once you walk out those doors, we are completely and utterly through.”
I nodded.
“Not many people knew we were together anyway. I won’t go around talking about it.”
I didn’t have much to take with me, so I finished packing quickly.
I didn’t look back as I left; I only heard a muffled thud from behind me.
Eight years ago, I stole a glance at him. Today, eight years later, that story has finally reached its end.

Don’t Mess With The Ex-Fiancée
It was the eighth year of my unrequited love for Shen Sui, and he still refused to acknowledge me as his fiancée.
He had me pulled from the red carpet just to please his Little Canary.
