I was still interacting with my fans when I received the news that my red carpet appearance had been canceled.
My fingers froze over the screen as I looked at my manager, Sister Zhou, in disbelief.
“Why?”
She sighed and gave my wrist a comforting squeeze.
“What can we do? Some people just have better connections. I did some digging-apparently, it’s Shen Sui’s little girlfriend.”
My fingers curled inward, trembling slightly.
Shen Sui was my fiancé.
I had loved him for eight whole years. Even his mother, who was notoriously difficult to please, had accepted me as her own.
Yet, as far as he was concerned, I still had no official status.
Even Sister Zhou didn’t know about our relationship.
