“How could this happen? What’s going on? Did Huo Qing do something?” Zheng Qianfei’s voice was trembling as she spoke.

She looked at us with a pleading expression, clearly hoping we would say something.

Ren Anran was already scared stiff, goosebumps running from her neck all the way up her arms.

I swallowed and asked sincerely, “Don’t you guys… really think Wu Ranjun sounded strange?”

Zheng Qianfei and Ren Anran both froze at my words, then began to recall carefully. The more they thought about it, the worse their faces looked.

Bracing myself, I tried to persuade Zheng Qianfei, “Maybe you should just listen to Huo Qing and stop contacting Wu Ranjun. He really is a bit weird. Don’t… don’t actually attract something dirty…”

Zheng Qianfei’s eyes filled with tears. Her round face and big eyes made her look especially pitiful when she cried, like a pear blossom in the rain.

Of course, she didn’t want to admit that her boyfriend in the throes of romance was actually dead. But the recording kept looping, and the voice coming from it was truly chilling.

After hesitating, Zheng Qianfei said nothing. She simply turned off her phone and tossed it into the drawer.

She unilaterally cut off contact with Wu Ranjun.

That night, I was plagued by nightmares. In my dream, a man’s shadow chased me, demanding to know why Zheng Qianfei wasn’t replying to his messages.

“He had a mouth full of sharp teeth, his jaws opening into a deep abyss, as if he wanted to bite my head off. He kept saying to get Zheng Qianfei to turn her phone back on, right?” Ren Anran’s voice trembled. “I dreamed about it too!”

We saw the same terror reflected in each other’s eyes and turned to look at Zheng Qianfei.

Her face was deathly pale, panic written all over her features.

My heart skipped a beat. Could it be… she had the same dream?

Sure enough, Zheng Qianfei, on the verge of tears, said, “I-I dreamed it too. He said he was coming for me tonight!”

That exact sentence had been said in my dream as well!

A chill poured over me, making my hair stand on end.

This was just too absurd!

The three of us had actually had the same dream!

“Click-”

The bathroom door opened, and Huo Qing came out looking refreshed, clearly just finished with her wash-up.

Seeing her at that moment, I actually felt like I’d seen a savior and hurriedly asked, “Huo Qing, this is so strange. Do you know why this is happening?”

“What’s so strange about it?” Huo Qing said. “I’ve warned you countless times not to court death, but you wouldn’t listen. Now that something ghostly has come knocking, you’re finally scared?”

Her words were blunt and merciless. Zheng Qianfei’s face immediately fell, and she pouted.

“Is Wu Ranjun really dead?” I asked shamelessly. “He won’t really come to our dorm, will he? Huo Qing, do you have any way to help us?”

Huo Qing replied coldly, “Now you remember me? When you were talking behind my back, did you ever think there’d be a day you’d need my help? If you want my help, apologize.”

“I’ve never talked behind your back,” I protested, feeling wronged.

Huo Qing’s gaze swept indifferently over Ren Anran and Zheng Qianfei.

Zheng Qianfei couldn’t stand Huo Qing’s attitude any longer. In a fit of pique, she slapped her bed board loudly. “Who needs your help anyway? Maybe you’re the one playing tricks! You’re the best at pretending to be mysterious!”

At her words, Huo Qing sneered and tossed back, “Do you really think I’m some kind of pushover? If you won’t apologize, don’t expect my help.”

Then, she slammed the door and left.
