Through the bed curtains, Zheng Qianfei’s shadow could be seen.

Her belly was swollen like a mountain, and the thing inside moved around, making the skin bulge and shift as if it was about to burst.

Huo Qing glanced playfully at Ren Anran: “Looks like he ate well last night, full of energy.”

Ren Anran shivered.

What the Human Ghost Infant fed on last night was clearly her!

Looking at her aged reflection in the mirror, Ren Anran’s mental state cracked.

Huo Qing stopped wasting words and violently yanked open Zheng Qianfei’s bed curtains.

Behind the curtains, Zheng Qianfei sat on the bed, her hair disheveled.

Her belly was raised so high it nearly touched her chin.

Behind the round, bulging belly, Zheng Qianfei’s eyes were cold and sinister, staring straight at Huo Qing.

Even though I wasn’t the one being stared at, I couldn’t help but feel my scalp tingle.

Huo Qing was completely unfazed. She moved like lightning, grabbing Zheng Qianfei’s collar and pulling down hard.

Ren Anran and I gasped, watching as Zheng Qianfei toppled off the bed, landing belly-first on the floor.

“Waa-waa-”

A chilling infant’s cry came from her belly.

What kind of baby cries from inside the womb before being born?

Ren Anran and I instinctively wanted to help Zheng Qianfei, but now we both stepped back, the thought of helping her vanishing instantly.

Hearing the baby cry, Zheng Qianfei tenderly reached out to touch her belly, soothing in a soft voice, “Good baby, don’t cry, don’t cry~”

That hand stroking her belly seemed to be bitten by something, and blood gushed out instantly.

Zheng Qianfei screamed in pain, her face twisted.

Huo Qing mocked, “Zheng Qianfei, you don’t look like any great mother. That Human Ghost tricked you, didn’t he? Did he say that as long as you give birth to his child, he’ll let you go?”

Panic flashed in Zheng Qianfei’s eyes, clearly hit the mark.

Huo Qing wore a ‘you’re so gullible’ expression: “Let me tell you the truth. Me, Xu Yi, Ren Anran-any of us can be replaced. In other words, as long as three people are found for the Human Ghost Infant to absorb enough Vital Energy to be born, it doesn’t matter who those three are. It could be us, or any other three people. Only you can’t be replaced, because you’re the mother. The moment the Human Ghost Infant is born, it will drain the mother dry. When it’s born, you will die.”

“Zheng Qianfei, do you understand what I’m saying? Do you believe me? Do you believe the Human Ghost, or do you believe me?”

Blood streamed down Zheng Qianfei’s hand.

She slumped to the ground, looking up at Huo Qing, her gaze collapsing: “Huo Qing, save me! I don’t want this Ghost Fetus! I don’t want to die! I’m sorry, I apologize! I shouldn’t have spoken ill of you behind your back! Please save me, I beg you! For the sake of our years as classmates!”

Zheng Qianfei sobbed and pleaded.

Huo Qing nodded briskly, making an OK gesture: “Whether your apology is sincere or not, since you apologized, I’ll take care of this for you.”

With that, she turned and handed a Talisman to both Ren Anran and me.

This time, the Talisman wasn’t folded into a triangle, and the symbols on it could be clearly seen.

Still, I couldn’t understand them.

One end of the Talisman Paper was sticky, as if coated with glue.

Huo Qing instructed, “Stick it on your forehead. When the fight starts, I might not be able to look after you.”

I didn’t hesitate and stuck it on immediately.

Only after sticking it did I realize it wasn’t glue at all. The sticky stuff clung to my forehead so tightly, it worked far better than glue!

“Ahhh!” Ren Anran’s scream came from beside me.

The moment she touched the Talisman Paper, it was as if she’d been electrocuted. She instinctively flung it away.

“I can’t use this Talisman Paper. It hurts the moment I touch it,” Ren Anran cried out.

“That’s normal,” Huo Qing said. “Your Yin Energy far exceeds your Yang Energy. You’re half a living dead. Either endure the pain and stick the Talisman, or risk your life. Your choice.”

With things as they were, Ren Anran could only pick up the Talisman Paper with tears in her eyes. Even though the pain contorted her face, she resolutely stuck it to her forehead.
