I glanced at the time.
Since she started, my mom had already been dancing for thirty-five minutes.
I had to stop her.
It was simple.
On a sudden impulse, I put down my phone.
Quietly, I walked up behind my mom.
Timing it just right, I wrapped my arms around her.
“Mom, take a break if you’re tired.”
My mom’s body froze.
Her hands were raised above her head.
Her toes hadn’t touched the ground yet.
The music from the small speaker was still playing.
I hugged her tightly from behind,
forcing her to stop dancing.
My chest was pressed against her back.
I felt as if my heart was about to leap out of my chest.
I held my breath, barely daring to make a sound.
We stayed like that for a few seconds.
I thought my mom would push me away and keep dancing.
Unexpectedly, she simply turned off the music.
“Alright, I’ll stop for tonight. I’m tired too.”
