[What the hell, there’s no towel. Your mom lied to you, she’s stopping you from going out.]
[But why would she lie to the Streamer? Did she forget the towel isn’t on the balcony?]
[That’s so creepy. Could it be that what that fortune-teller said above is true?]
[Streamer, run!]
I forced myself to stay calm.
While quietly making my way toward the front door, I replied to my mom in the bathroom.
“Mom, there’s no towel on the balcony. Did you remember wrong? I can’t find the towel anywhere. Just grab any cloth to wipe off for now.”
The balcony is a bit of a distance from the front door.
I hurried my steps, taking two at a time.
I just wanted to get out of this house as soon as possible.
Right as I passed the bathroom door, I heard my mom go, “Oh.”
A few seconds later, she suddenly realized and laughed at herself: “Oh, I forgot, my towel is in the bag behind the bathroom door. Silly me.”
So she wasn’t deliberately sending me to the balcony.
She just forgot. Thinking about it, my mom really is a bit forgetful.
I breathed a sigh of relief at that thought.
But I still didn’t waver.
Just to be safe, I have to get out tonight.
