Chapter 6

Song Yunnian’s eyelid twitched, and her expression shifted slightly. “P-President Fu, let’s talk this out reasonably.”

Their proximity made her feel incredibly insecure; they were far too close.

Fu Yanchen’s thin lips curled slightly as he asked in a low, haunting voice, “Is this fun?”

Song Yunnian feigned ignorance. “What are you talking about, President Fu? I don’t understand.”

Seeing her innocent act, Fu Yanchen’s smile deepened. He said slowly, “Back at the hospital, you said you wanted to repay me with your body.”

He paused, his gaze deep and inscrutable. “I’ve accepted.”

With that, he reached out and tilted her chin up. Song Yunnian found herself staring into eyes so deep they were intoxicating.

“Wait! President Fu, I’m your sister-in-law. Don’t do anything rash.”

A soft chuckle escaped Fu Yanchen’s throat. He gave her a meaningful look, though his eyes were cold.

So this woman had known who he was from the start, yet she’d pretended not to recognize him just to deceive him. What a little liar.

“President Fu, it’s better if we keep our distance. Otherwise, we’ll be struck by lightning.”

Fu Yanchen’s brow furrowed, appearing somewhat displeased.

Over the years, he had only ever touched one woman: Song Feier.

And that was while he wasn’t in his right mind. She had gotten pregnant from that one time and showed up at his door with Fu Chengyi in her arms. After a DNA test, it was confirmed the boy was his son.

Yet, in all these years, he felt nothing for Song Feier. He didn’t even like her getting close to him.

Song Yunnian and Song Feier were sisters, yet he didn’t find her scent repulsive. That was strange.

While Song Yunnian was still trying to think of an excuse to persuade him, he suddenly reached out, took the bowl of rice from her hand, and turned to walk out.

Song Yunnian froze, blinking in surprise.

What did he mean? Surely he didn’t intend to eat here?

Not just Fu Chengyi, but even Fu Yanchen was eating home-cooked food like this for the first time.

It was simple, yet filled with warmth.

The table was full of dishes, their mouth-watering aroma filling the air. It seemed Song Yunnian was quite the cook.

Song Yunnian glanced around the table. Seeing the father and son sitting there with identical expressions, she sighed inwardly.

Fine, I guess these two are staying for dinner.

It was just a meal; she wasn’t so petty that she’d begrudge them that.

Amidst the stiff atmosphere, Song Wanxing stepped in to ease the tension. He beckoned them over, saying, “Don’t just stand there! I’m starving. Try these cola chicken wings; they’re Sister Nian’s specialty.”

Having lived abroad alone for years, Song Yunnian had honed her culinary skills. After speaking, Song Wanxing started eating, ignoring Fu Yanchen and Fu Chengyi.

Song Yunnian hadn’t prepared much food. It would have been just enough with Fu Chengyi, but with Fu Yanchen there, it was a bit of a stretch.

The group only ended up about sixty or seventy percent full. By the time the table was cleared, the father and son still looked like they wanted more.

Song Yunnian stood up. “I’ll do the dishes. You guys should head back now.”

With that, she began gathering the dishes and headed into the kitchen.

Fu Chengyi leaned back in his chair, satisfied. He really liked this “mom.” Not only was her cooking delicious, but she wasn’t two-faced.

He glanced at Fu Yanchen. “You can go back now.”

Fu Yanchen’s face darkened. What did the brat mean? Kicking him out? Was he planning to stay?

When Song Yunnian finished the dishes and came out, she saw the two of them-one big, one small-still sitting there, staring each other down.

Immediately, she felt annoyed.

What was their deal? Were they really going to refuse to leave?

Fu Chengyi was one thing-he was just a child-but Fu Yanchen was a grown man, and her brother-in-law at that.

If word got out that she was alone in an apartment with him, people would talk behind her back.
