Chapter 5

Song Yunnian walked into the kitchen to prepare dinner.

Song Wanxing slung an arm around Fu Chengyi’s shoulder, looking at him with a half-smile. “Well? Are you satisfied with my Sister Nian?”

Fu Chengyi nodded. “Satisfied.”

Song Wanxing began his sales pitch with great enthusiasm. “Hehe, that’s good. Even though Sister Nian is a bit scatterbrained and lacks femininity, she’s still pretty good sometimes.”

Fu Chengyi looked content. Compared to Song Feier, he felt Song Yunnian was better in every possible way.

“By the way, did your dad hit it off with Sister Nian?”

Fu Chengyi could only tell Song Wanxing everything exactly as it happened, including the meeting between Song Yunnian and Fu Yanchen at the hospital.

Song Wanxing slapped his forehead. “I wanted to create a chance encounter for them, but I didn’t expect it to go off the rails. Sigh… forget it for now. Just eat at my place first, and we’ll come up with a new plan next time.”

“Okay.”

Fu Chengyi watched the busy figure in the kitchen, a strange sense of emotion stirring in his eyes.

Since he was a child, he had only ever eaten food prepared by servants. This was the first time he was eating a meal cooked by his mother.

Just as Song Yunnian finished cooking and brought the dishes out, the doorbell rang.

She glanced toward the door and said, “It might be the property management coming to fix the pipes. Song Wanxing, go open the door.”

Song Wanxing, who was still acting like brothers with Fu Chengyi, could only obediently go to open the door.

The moment the door opened, Fu Yanchen’s dark, brooding face came into view. He looked like a demon from hell, his eyes carrying a piercing chill that made one’s bones tremble.

Song Wanxing froze for a moment before letting out a loud cry. “Oh my god, Yama Fu has found us!”

Fu Yanchen’s expression instantly darkened to the extreme.

Yama Fu?

He stepped into the apartment and immediately saw his “kidnapped” son sitting leisurely on the sofa watching TV, without a hint of the restraint one would expect from a guest.

Hearing Song Wanxing’s howl, Song Yunnian immediately walked out of the kitchen, only to see Fu Yanchen standing there.

In an instant, her eyelids twitched, and she felt a wave of unease wash over her.

How did this man find his way here? She clearly remembered shaking everyone off long ago.

The atmosphere froze instantly.

One second, two seconds, three seconds…

Song Yunnian set down the bowl in her hand, picked up Fu Chengyi from the sofa, and shoved him toward Fu Yanchen. “President Fu, you’re here for your son, right? I accidentally picked him up. Here, take him back.”

Fu Yanchen’s face sank as he looked at Song Yunnian with a sharp, piercing gaze.

Accidentally picked him up? Heh, she certainly had some nerve to say that.

Fu Chengyi struggled to jump down and said haughtily, “I’m not going back. Old Man, go back yourself. I’m staying.”

With that, he ran to the dining table and sat down, looking at Song Yunnian pitifully. “I’m hungry. I want to eat dinner.”

Looking at the little guy who had suddenly decided to cling to her, Song Yunnian’s brow twitched. She really wanted to throw both him and Fu Yanchen out together.

For now, Fu Yanchen was the more dangerous one. It was better to send him packing first.

Song Yunnian gave a couple of dry laughs.

“Children are growing, they get cranky if they miss a meal. So, President Fu, why don’t you head back first? I’ll send him safely back to the Fu Family after dinner.”

Fu Yanchen didn’t agree, but Song Yunnian took his silence as tacit consent. “Song Wanxing, see the guest out.”

After saying that, she turned around and went back into the kitchen to dish out the rice.

As she filled the bowls, Song Yunnian muttered to herself. He should be gone by now, right? Bringing that kid back was truly a mistake; now the father had come knocking for his son.

Just as she turned around to head out, a broad chest pressed against her. His hands braced on either side of her body, trapping her firmly between his chest and the kitchen counter.

A cool, crisp scent approached, and the atmosphere instantly became thick with tension.
