Chapter 3
Over the past few years, he had investigated her identity thoroughly. Luckily, she was clever enough to scrub her past before returning to Yuncheng with her son to settle down.
She never expected everything to fall apart now. Song Wanxing, that mother-pitting brat-was he trying to get her killed?
“Want to catch me? Practice for another two years!” Song Yunnian sneered. She slammed her foot on the gas, and the car wove through the traffic like a needle, quickly leaving the pursuers behind.
Just as Song Yunnian was feeling triumphant, the cars behind her caught up. They flanked her from both sides, boxing her in with the clear intention of forcing her to a stop.
Seeing the vehicles closing in, Song Yunnian gritted her teeth and made a desperate move, ramming her car into one of them.
With a deafening bang, she realized the other car had a reinforced exterior that was incredibly hard.
Song Yunnian’s car was like an egg hitting a stone. The world spun violently, the airbags deployed, and the car went rolling across the highway.
…
Yuncheng Central Hospital.
“Miss Song, you have a mild concussion. You need to rest during this period and avoid overexerting your brain.”
The nurse finished her instructions and left the ward.
Song Yunnian rubbed her forehead, her brow furrowed. She called her best friend back, informing her that something had happened and telling her to find her own way home for now.
After hanging up, Song Yunnian ground her teeth in frustration.
That damn dog of a man actually caused her to end up in the hospital. It must have been his people who brought her here. She had to find a way to leave before they realized who she was.
She figured her identity hadn’t been exposed yet; he likely only suspected her without any confirmation.
There was no time to lose. It was time to make a run for it.
Just as Song Yunnian threw back the covers to get out of bed, the ward door suddenly opened, and a small figure walked in.
Looking at that strangely familiar face, Song Yunnian’s heart skipped a beat. Why did this kid look so familiar? His eyes and brows bore a striking resemblance to her own son’s.
Who was he?
Suddenly, a realization hit Song Yunnian, making her feel as though she had swallowed something foul. Her expression instantly turned cold.
This was Song Feier’s son!
Years ago, Song Feier had hooked up with Fu Yanchen and successfully bore him an heir, instantly becoming the most envied woman in Yuncheng.
Song Yunnian thought of her own child who had died in infancy. The Chief of Obstetrics had told her it was a girl, and that she was very beautiful.
Her child had been killed by Song Feier, yet Song Feier’s child was living a perfectly fine life. Song Yunnian’s eyes grew as cold as frost.
She dug her nails into her palms, struggling to keep the hatred in her chest from exploding, fearing she might lose control and strangle the boy then and there.
Footsteps echoed outside the ward.
“President Fu, the suspicious individual is inside the ward. The doctor said she has regained consciousness.”
The reason these people didn’t dare confirm Song Yunnian was Yama was because she was a woman. In their minds, they had always assumed Yama was a man.
Song Yunnian’s eyelids flickered. She looked at Fu Chengyi standing by her legs and hissed at him, “Don’t make a sound, or I’ll kill you!”
With that, she yanked open a cabinet and stuffed him inside.
Just as she shut the cabinet door, the ward door swung open.
As Fu Yanchen entered, a heavy, low-pressure atmosphere instantly filled the room.
Suddenly, a soft, fragrant body lunged straight toward his chest.
Fu Yanchen grabbed Song Yunnian’s wrist and used his elbow to pin her against the cabinet door.
“Ow, that hurts! You’re crushing my chest, you meanie!” Song Yunnian squeezed out a few fake tears, looking up at Fu Yanchen with a watery, pitiful gaze.
A flash of disgust crossed Fu Yanchen’s eyes, his voice laced with ice. “Don’t move.”
Song Yunnian wriggled again, acting as if she had only just recognized him. She said in an affected, flirtatious tone, “President Fu! So it was you who saved me! I can never repay such a life-saving debt… unless I offer myself to you in marriage!”
