Beside them, Li Yurong was furious. She rushed forward in distress, her face instantly darkening as she looked at Song Feier’s reddened cheek.
“Feier, are you alright?”
Song Feier clutched her face, tears streaming down her cheeks, looking the picture of misery.
Li Yurong gritted her teeth and glared at Song Yunnian, shouting sharply, “You animal! How could you lay a hand on Feier? Apologize to her this instant!”
Song Yunnian flashed a cold, mirthless smile, her eyes suddenly turning frigid. “I hit whenever I feel like it. Do I need to check the schedule?”
Faced with such a defiant, prickly Song Yunnian, Old Master Song couldn’t help but frown.
“Yunnian!”
Striking someone first was wrong after all, especially on an occasion like this. Old Master Song felt compelled to intervene.
Song Yunnian gave Old Master Song a nonchalant glance and said calmly, “Grandfather, surely you don’t expect me to apologize? I fail to see what I’ve done wrong.”
Song Feier gritted her teeth and cried out, “Grandfather, she was seducing Yanchen!”
“Heh,” Song Yunnian laughed. “So, in your eyes, simply walking in together counts as seduction?”
She looked at Song Feier with contempt. “I can’t tell if you’re just insecure about your ability to keep your position as Madam Fu, or if you think I’d be interested in just any man.”
With a single sentence, Song Yunnian had insulted both Song Feier and Fu Yanchen. Song Feier had only lost control because of her own guilty conscience.
Meanwhile, Fu Yanchen had been standing by, watching the drama unfold. Hearing Song Yunnian’s words, his brow furrowed involuntarily.
It was clear disdain.
Was he really that worthless in Song Yunnian’s eyes?
Song Feier glared at Song Yunnian, wishing she could slap her back.
At that moment, their cousin Song Qianqian quickly stepped forward to smooth things over. “Alright, Feier, it seems like a misunderstanding. Yunnian probably just happened to run into President Fu and followed him in. Don’t overthink it.”
Song Qianqian naturally wasn’t helping Song Feier; she had long been jealous of Feier’s status as the future Madam Fu. Seeing Feier get slapped had actually made her day.
By stepping in now and labeling it a ‘misunderstanding,’ she was merely ensuring Song Feier couldn’t retaliate after being hit, which only served to make Feier even angrier.
Old Master Song cleared his throat, taking the offered out.
“Enough. Today is a joyous occasion. What does it look like for family members to be bickering like this!”
Since Old Master Song had spoken, Song Feier had no choice but to force herself to swallow her rage.
She walked over to Fu Yanchen’s side and said pitifully, “Yanchen, I was hit.”
Her intention was for Fu Yanchen to stand up for her.
She was Fu Yanchen’s woman now, the mother of the Fu family’s little prince. Hitting her was equivalent to slapping Fu Yanchen in the face.
Fu Yanchen gave her a cold, indifferent glance, remaining unmoved.
Song Feier began to sob even more pathetically. “Yanchen, Song Yunnian is loose and lacks any sense of propriety. She got pregnant out of wedlock and was abandoned by the Song family long ago. I was only worried she might have designs on you.”
Fu Yanchen instinctively frowned, a flash of impatience crossing his eyes. He said expressionlessly, “You are Fu Chengyi’s mother.”
The implication was that as long as she held the status of his child’s mother, her position would remain unaffected even if other women had designs on him.
It sounded like he was reassuring Song Feier, yet he hadn’t denied her claims about Song Yunnian.
Song Feier didn’t catch the nuance; she only felt that Fu Yanchen had affirmed her status, and she broke into a sweet, triumphant smile.
That bastard Fu Chengyi wasn’t her biological child, and keeping him around was always a risk. She needed to bear Fu Yanchen a son of her own to truly solidify her position.
After today, everything would be different.
Thinking of her plan, the anger Song Feier felt from being suppressed by Song Yunnian dissipated significantly.
