A week after the new semester began, everyone knew I had fallen for Fang Feiyuan.

Many classmates came to me in secret, trying to persuade me, telling me all sorts of stories about what a scumbag Fang Feiyuan was.

This playboy, jokingly called the “Crown Prince of Jiangcheng” by our classmates, dated a different girl every month, only to dump them soon after.

Girls had cried and made scenes over him, some had even gone so far as to cut their wrists, but he never looked back.

But I ignored all the warnings, wholeheartedly pursuing Fang Feiyuan.

When he finished playing basketball and returned to class, his favorite sea salt citrus sports drink was already waiting on his desk.

When he got scolded by the teacher for not doing his homework, I would quietly do an extra set for him after finishing my own.

At that time, Fang Feiyuan was hot and heavy with the school beauty from the neighboring vocational school. After three weeks, he got bored, and even though the school beauty cried her heart out, he coldly dumped her.

So one day after school, he was cornered by a group of people in an alley.

When I arrived, the leader of the gang was raising an iron rod, about to smash it down on Fang Feiyuan. “So what if you’re rich? I’ll beat you to death, you scumbag!”

Seeing the rod about to hit Fang Feiyuan, I rushed over and shielded him with my own body.

The iron rod landed on my back, and I collapsed into Fang Feiyuan’s arms.

“Su Zhaozhao!”

I heard Fang Feiyuan’s voice ring out by my ear.

It was the first time I’d ever heard him sound so panicked.

The leader, afraid he’d killed someone, hurriedly called for his buddies to run. Fang Feiyuan wanted to chase after them, but in the end, he turned back and helped me up from the ground.

“Are you okay?”

My hair was a mess, and the pain was so intense I couldn’t even stand, but I still managed to ask him with difficulty, “Are you… okay?”

When he nodded, I gave a faint smile. “As long as you’re okay.”

After saying that, I lost consciousness.

…

When I woke up again, I was in the hospital.

Fang Feiyuan was sitting at my bedside. When he saw me wake up, he scratched his head irritably. “It was that bitch Qin Lili who sent those people! Just wait, I’ll deal with her!”

I shook my head and said softly, “It might not be her. You’ve dumped so many girls, any of them could want revenge.”

Fang Feiyuan paused, realizing I had a point.

Then, as if something occurred to him, he looked at me with a hint of interest in his eyes. “I change girlfriends all the time. Doesn’t that make you sad?”

I lowered my gaze. “It does.”

“Then why are you still so devoted to me?”

I nodded, replying softly, “Mm.”

How could I not care, my dear Brother Fang?

Your sneakers, your luxury watches, the money you spend so lavishly on girls-all of it comes from the blood-stained insurance payout my mother left behind.

It’s been twelve years. The photo of your family sits by my bedside, and I’ve slashed it with a knife countless times.

Fang Feiyuan chuckled, ruffling my hair in a careless, cocky way. “Little simp.

“So pretty and still such a simp-there’s really no one like you.”

He rummaged through his backpack and tossed me an invitation. “Alright, I’m single now anyway, so I guess I can give you a shot-my birthday party is next weekend. Come, and remember to dress up.” The invitation he threw over had his home address written on it.

That was the villa my dad bought with my mom’s compensation money. Security guards stood at the entrance to the neighborhood twenty-four hours a day-no outsiders could get in.

But with this invitation, I could come and go as I pleased.

“I’ll definitely be there.” I clutched the invitation tightly, my voice trembling with joy.

Fang Feiyuan laughed. “Look at you, acting like it’s worth so much.”

I didn’t care what he said at all.

Leaving the hospital alone, I walked into a deserted alley. In the shadows, the thug who had just hit me with the iron rod was waiting.

I handed him a wad of cash. “You did well. If I have another job like this, I’ll come to you again.”

After the thug left, I took out the invitation and ran my fingers over it again and again.

A huge sense of joy filled my heart.

Dad, Aunt Fang.

It’s been twelve whole years.

We’re about to meet again.
