After Tang Xin sent that message,

there was no response from the other side.

The rain outside grew even heavier.

Rain mixed with wind pounded against the eaves with a crackling sound.

“Why isn’t Song Ming saying anything? I’ve sent him several messages in a row and he hasn’t replied.”

I moved over to the window.

Quietly, I pulled the curtain open just a crack.

Song Ming’s jeep was parked in the courtyard.

The windows were tightly shut, and I could vaguely make out a person sitting in the driver’s seat.

“He got into the car. Text him, don’t send a voice message. What if he plays the voice message and it attracts the Bear Cub? Tell him to observe for a bit, and if there’s nothing unusual, drive away quickly. If the Mother Bear is coming for the Bear Cub, then the real targets are the two of us. Tell your friend to get out of here fast.”

Tang Xin hurriedly sent a message to Song Ming.

But Song Ming still didn’t reply.

He just sat there in the car, motionless.

Night deepened, fog began to rise in the mountains, and the heavy rain showed no sign of stopping.

The Black Bear from earlier, after feasting, had dragged Zhou Qiang’s mangled corpse off to some unknown place.

Now, there was no sign of the bear in the courtyard.

The two of us stared intently at the jeep in the yard.

“What is Song Ming doing? Why isn’t he moving?”

“Don’t talk.”

It was extremely quiet all around.

Only the sound of rain and wind could be heard.

Suddenly, Song Ming, sitting in the car,

began to convulse violently.

He flailed his arms and legs, twisting himself into a strange posture inside the car. Our view was limited; we couldn’t see his upper body, only that he was arching his torso backward with his feet jerking on the steering wheel.

It looked as if… he was being torn apart by a Black Bear.

Just as the two of us were sinking into despair,

Tang Xin’s phone suddenly vibrated twice.
