“Xiao Lin, hurry!”

I snapped back to my senses.

While the Black Bear was mauling Song Ming, the two of us quickly moved the tables, chairs, and cabinets we had just shifted and piled them against the door.

The Black Bear’s howls outside mingled with Song Ming’s screams of agony.

This night would no longer be peaceful.

I didn’t dare look outside.

Just from the sounds alone, I could imagine the horrific scene unfolding.

Neither of us dared to relax. We pushed everything in the room that could be moved up against the door.

Luckily, there weren’t many windows on the first floor, and the protective grilles outside were of good quality. The steel bars were flexible, making it hard for the Black Bear to tear them apart.

We turned off the lights inside the house.

Pressed hard against the door.

A long time passed.

The sounds outside finally faded.

Only then did I muster the courage to take a glance outside.

Song Ming and the Black Bear had both disappeared.

Blood trailed from the doorway into the yard, where a large, dark red pool had formed in the center.

Seeing that the Black Bear had vanished again,

Tang Xin finally let out a sigh of relief.

The rain had stopped.

Rescue should arrive soon. We just needed to hold out for another two or three hours.

The spacious villa returned to silence.

But at that moment,

Tang Xin’s phone suddenly vibrated twice.

Could it be the rescue team?

He hurriedly pulled out his phone.

To his surprise, it was a message from the group chat with Tang Xin, Song Ming, and Zhou Qiang.

Of the three in the group,

only one was still alive.

Tang Xin unlocked his phone and opened the group chat. The messages were actually from Song Ming.

He had sent several voice messages in a row.

“It’s Song Ming. Could it be that… could it be that he’s not dead?”

Honestly, the chances of escaping from a bear’s jaws were slim.

I warned him, “You’d better not listen.”

But Tang Xin didn’t believe me. He said, “What if? What if he’s still alive? No, he must be alive, otherwise he wouldn’t have messaged me. Maybe he found a way to subdue the bear.”

With that,

Tang Xin tapped on the voice messages.
