Chapter 11
My heart leapt into my throat.
I was terrified that the Black Bear would suddenly appear again.
Although the door was unlocked,
there was a pile of things pressed up against it from the inside.
Song Ming pushed for a while but found he couldn’t move the door.
He shouted loudly from outside, “What’s going on? Why can’t I push open your door? Let me in, it’s cold and dark out here, I’m about to freeze into an idiot!”
“Xiao Lin, come help! Let him in first, with three adults, we’ll have more strength, and it’ll be easier to deal with that Black Bear together!”
Hearing this,
I hesitated.
The Black Bear had just eaten its fill, so logically, it wouldn’t attack people again so soon.
Maybe it had gone somewhere to sleep.
“Alright, you move the stuff, I’ll keep watch outside. If the Black Bear comes, I’ll shut the door immediately.”
In this situation, I couldn’t afford to be a good person. I was just an ordinary person, only wanting to survive, and doing my best to protect those inside.
The Black Bear was ferocious and bloodthirsty; one bear’s strength could match three adult men.
I couldn’t just gamble on this.
We got to work. We told Song Ming to keep an eye on the outside.
I stood guard while Tang Xin moved the things.
Soon, the cabinet and chairs were pushed aside.
Just as the last table was about to be moved away,
a strong stench mixed with the smell of rain wafted in.
I knew.
The Black Bear had come.
It happened in an instant-just as I realized the Black Bear was here,
a huge Black Shadow was already standing behind Song Ming.
Tang Xin and I both saw it.
Only Song Ming was still foolishly helping to push the door.
He was pushing from outside, while we were moving things inside.
Soon, a crack opened in the door, and he managed to get one leg inside.
A wave of hot, foul-smelling breath hit his shoulder.
Song Ming froze.
His leg hung in midair.
The Black Bear was standing behind him-he couldn’t turn around! If he turned, it would instantly snap his neck!
I shouted, “Quick! Get inside, don’t turn around!”
But it was already too late.
Song Ming stood there, stunned. Maybe it was a reflex-he foolishly turned his head.
The next second,
the Black Bear lunged forward and bit into his neck.
Seeing this, Tang Xin quickly shoved Song Ming’s leg back out the door.
With a bang,
the door slammed shut.
