Chapter 10
On the phone, it was Song Ming’s voice message.
[Hahahahahaha, you two must be scared to death, right? Is Zhou Qiang in there too? I saw his shoes at the door. Are you two trying to prank me?]
Tang Xin helplessly typed a line: [Really, there’s really a Black Bear. Zhou Qiang is already dead! He was eaten by the Black Bear, right at the door.]
[You keep trying to fool me. There’s nothing but flowers and grass at your door, no corpse at all. I’m done playing, open the door.]
The heavy rain washed away all the bloodstains on the ground.
That Black Bear was very clever; no one knew where it had hidden the remains of the corpse.
After Song Ming finished speaking, he got out of the car.
He walked to the door and rang the doorbell.
“Ding… ding… ding…”
The sharp sound of the bell was especially piercing in the dark night.
The two of us instantly tensed up, afraid that the bell would attract the Black Bear.
“Still not opening the door? What’s this sticky, stinky stuff on your door?”
On the door was the bloodstain left by Zhou Qiang when he smashed it.
“It’s all blood on the door. Get back in the car, the Black Bear will be here any minute.”
Song Ming put his blood-stained hand under his nose and sniffed, then his expression changed.
“It really is blood. You guys went this far just to trick me? Stop acting, it’s not even April Fool’s Day.”
Song Ming said he didn’t believe it, but then he started pounding on the door even harder.
“Open up! Tang Xin, open up, let me in!”
He knocked for a while, then stopped.
“Not opening? Let me guess your password for the lock.”
Song Ming grinned mischievously.
Then, he started pressing the code on the lock.
“Beep beep beep beep”-wrong password.
“Beep beep beep beep”-wrong password…
Song Ming tried a round, and I kept watching from behind the window.
The yard was pitch black; I couldn’t see where the Black Bear was hiding.
“Xiao Lin, do you think we should open the door?”
It was too quiet outside. By now, the rain had stopped.
In the mountains and forest, there wasn’t even the sound of beasts or insects.
Adult Black Bears are very clever; they hide in the dark, watching their prey.
As soon as the timing is right, it will leap out, pin its prey to the ground and bite it to death. If the Black Bear breaks in, none of the three of us would stand a chance.
Tang Xin looked through the peephole for a while: “The Black Bear really seems to be gone.”
But just as he said that-
An electronic sound rang out: “Beep beep beep beep”-correct password.
The lock clicked open.
