Chapter 5
Chapter 5
I nearly lost my mind several times while reading the second letter, but I forced myself to keep going.
However, when I reached this part, I couldn’t take it anymore.
I grabbed the ashtray next to me and hurled it at the embroidered painting hanging on the wall.
My wife, who had been busy in the kitchen, rushed over when she heard the noise. She found me tearing the embroidery apart until it was a mangled mess.
“What are you doing?” she demanded.
“What are you doing?” I shot back. “Why haven’t you left the house today? What have you been so busy with in the kitchen?”
“I already told you. A friend is coming over today, and I’m preparing some food to host her.”
“Oh? Is it the same friend who gave you this painting?”
The frame fell completely apart in my hands, and I found it-the bug.
My wife fell silent at the sight of it.
This embroidered painting had been hanging on our wall since 2005. It had been there for three years.
For three years, every secret I had poured out during my psychotherapy sessions had been secretly recorded by an outsider.
I crushed the listening device under my heel and threw it out the window. My head was buzzing, my thoughts a chaotic blur.
I was both furious and terrified, unsure of what else to do.
After pacing back and forth for a couple of laps, the only thing I could do was sit back down and continue reading the letter.

I remembered that moment for ten long...
