Chapter 1

That was the day I took my wife to try on wedding dresses. Honestly, the first one she tried was stunning. Just looking at her made my heart race; if the shop hadn’t been so crowded, I would have pulled her into my arms and kissed her right then and there.

She shyly asked me if she looked good.

A little boy, brought along by an adult, overheard her and immediately shouted mischievously, “Wow, so ugly!”

My wife’s face fell. I quickly reassured her, telling her she was as beautiful as a princess and to ignore the kid’s nonsense.

Only then did she brighten up, saying playfully, “Then why hasn’t the prince gone to get Princess Highness a milk tea? It’s so hot in this dress.”

I agreed like a fool and ran off eagerly to buy her a drink.

It was that one trip that ruined her life.

When I returned with the milk tea, I saw a massive crowd gathered outside the bridal shop from a distance. Many people were holding up their phones, recording the scene.

Confused, I pushed through the crowd, only to see my wife lying on the ground, her clothes in disarray.

The girl I usually pampered like a princess was being pinned to the floor by a woman.

The little boy from before stood beside her, raising his hand to slap her.

As his palm struck my wife’s face, the woman praised him, “Good job, baby! Hit her back!”

My wife didn’t even try to fight back. She could only use her hands to cover her chest, sobbing, “Stop filming, please stop filming me…”

But the onlookers, eager for drama, kept their cameras pointed right at her.

I lost my mind. I grabbed a phone from someone recording and smashed it to the ground, then rushed in to shove the woman aside and pull my wife into a tight embrace.

She was shaking in my arms, clutching my shirt with all her strength as she wailed in agony.

Seeing her like this broke my heart into a million pieces.

I hurriedly took off my jacket to cover her and asked what happened, but she just wept and trembled, unable to utter a single word. She simply held onto my clothes and wouldn’t let go.

In the end, it was our bridal consultant who told me what had occurred.

Apparently, after I left, my wife took off the first dress to try on a second one.

The little boy’s aunt was also there to try on dresses. While the aunt was getting her makeup done and the mother was chatting with her, no one was watching the child, letting him run wild in the shop.

The brat was being mischievous and yanked open my wife’s dressing curtain.

To maximize lighting, many bridal shops place their changing platforms right in the main hall. When the curtain was torn open, everyone in the shop saw her undressed.

Humiliated and furious, she instinctively slapped the child.

This enraged the boy’s mother. She screamed that my wife was a shameless woman for hitting a child, then lunged at her to pin her down. She told her son not to be afraid and that if he was bullied, he should hit back hard.

The woman fought dirty. To ensure my wife couldn’t fight back, she specifically tore at her clothes, weaponizing a person’s sense of shame to commit the most depraved act imaginable.
