Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Xu Tianwei has disconnected.
He dropped out of the game quite unexpectedly.
It all started when the group encountered a massive horde of zombies while traveling. Usually, Xu Tianwei and I would hide off to the side.
Xu Tianwei was a squishy character with zero combat effectiveness.
I don’t know how it happened, but the team, which usually kept the zombies pinned down behind an airtight perimeter, slipped up today.
A single zombie broke through the line and came stumbling toward the two of us.
Xu Tianwei practically pissed himself. He shoved me forward and turned to bolt. “Don’t bite me! Kids have tender meat-bite her!”
I stumbled forward, seemingly destined for a faceplant, but a gentle force caught me.
The zombie’s eyes were vacant, as if it were being controlled by something. It didn’t even spare me a glance as it bypassed me and lunged straight for Xu Tianwei. Amidst his piercing screams, it sank its teeth into his neck!
His Healing Ability could only treat normal wounds; it was useless against the virus transmitted through a zombie bite.
Before long, his body began to twitch, the sound of twisting bones rang out, and his skin turned a dull grayish-blue. He had become one of the undead.
Yet, after turning into a zombie, he didn’t attack me.
It looked at me once, as if it had encountered something terrifying. It seemed to want to flee, but ended up slamming into a tree with a loud thud, knocking its own head clean off.
Me: “…”
By the time the four members of the main leads’ team finished killing the zombies and harvesting the Crystal Cores, they returned to find that Xu Tianwei had officially deleted his account from Earth Online.
Yu Qingyan’s face showed a hint of pity. “Aunt Xu, my condolences.”
Qin Baizhou looked solemn. “Aunt Xu, I’m sorry.”
Mingcheng wanted to burst out laughing but held it in, resulting in a distorted expression. “Aunt Xu, Uncle Xu… I, I didn’t know this would happen. Please, accept my condolences.”
Aunt Xu looked at me, completely unharmed, and then at the fully zombified Xu Tianwei. Her lip twitched. She seemed to realize that the Male Lead and Female Lead had allowed this to happen to stop Xu Tianwei from constantly whining and trying to take the moral high ground.
Technically, Xu Tianwei was Aunt Xu’s cousin.
Finally, her eyes blinked, and a few tears welled up. “Sigh, The Apocalypse is survival of the fittest. This was his fate… You all did your best. Tianwei won’t blame you.”
She was quite the pragmatist.
Me: “…”
I felt like I should take a stance as well.
So, I feigned terror and threw myself at Mingcheng. “Brother Ming, I’m scared…”
Mingcheng, in a much better mood now, picked me up. “Don’t be scared, don’t be scared, Yingying. I’ll protect you!”
